Right Way Of Correction

Is good for a Christian to be ex-communicated because of fornication? Wouldn't this further lead the person in question to many more temptations? What should be the right way of handling this type of case?

does excommunication still exist? i only thought it was back in the days before martin luthers protests. anyway if it still does,its definitely not the best way, imagine if God excomunicates,how many reverends,pastors,bishops would have been excommunicated

A classic case of excommunication is what the PFN did to Chris Oyhakhilome. This is in order with divine revelation. However, I believe you are really talking about a believer within a church. The following passage from 1 Corinthians gives another basis for excommunication.
"1 I can hardly believe the report about the sexual immorality going on among you, something so evil that even the pagans don't do it. I am told that you have a man in your church who is living in sin with his father's wife. 2 And you are so proud of yourselves! Why aren't you mourning in sorrow and shame? And why haven't you removed this man from your fellowship? 3 Even though I am not there with you in person, I am with you in the Spirit. F21 Concerning the one who has done this, I have already passed judgment 4 in the name of the Lord Jesus. You are to call a meeting of the church, F22 and I will be there in spirit, and the power of the Lord Jesus will be with you as you meet. 5 Then you must cast this man out of the church and into Satan's hands, so that his sinful nature will be destroyed F23 and he himself F24 will be saved when the Lord returns. 6 How terrible that you should boast about your spirituality, and yet you let this sort of thing go on. Don't you realize that if even one person is allowed to go on sinning, soon all will be affected?

7 Remove this wicked person from among you so that you can stay pure. F25 Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed for us. 8 So let us celebrate the festival, not by eating the old bread F26 of wickedness and evil, but by eating the new bread F27 of purity and truth.

yeah excommunication still exists at least for the catholic church. but no one is gonna ex communicate you for fornication. excommunication is a serious serious thing oh.

Christ Apostolic Church and the Jehovah's witnesses do it (maybe they call it suspension). My cousin and her Husband got suspended when they had their baby 7 months after their wedding - Baby wasn't premature so it was clear they were fornicating before they were joined together. A Jehovah Witness couple friend too were suspended for a while when the lady became pregnant before they were joined. Don't know if she was allowed the kind of wedding ceremony her sister later had.


Church members, especially those who hold sensitive posts, should be rebuked if they commit fornication. Keeping a Pastor who is sleeping with all the girls in the church on the pulpit is not exactly the way to condemn fornication/adultery. If he is to remain he must be ready to admit his sin publicly and let the church know he has repented, otherwise, growing chrisitians who listen to him preach and have heard about his sin through the grapevine might think it's okay to fornicate.
