Hello, I am 34 years old, am i too old to marry a Nigerian man of 38? do you think that he will want a woman of 28 and under? I also have two kids from a previous marriage
Re: 34 Years Old And No Husband by Seun(m): 8:19pm On Feb 12, 2008
You're not too old to marry a 38 year old man. However, that doesn't mean he's the one for you.
Re: 34 Years Old And No Husband by marzipan73(f): 8:26pm On Feb 12, 2008
and the fact that i have kids, he is yoruba. I ws told that Yoruba families are funny about this. we are not based in Nigeria though
Re: 34 Years Old And No Husband by 4Him(m): 10:21pm On Feb 12, 2008
tough one. Many Nigerian mothers frown at marrying a woman with kids. Infact my mom told me straight to my face that she would not welcome one . . . and this from a woman who i suppose is even more liberal than most.
Re: 34 Years Old And No Husband by olanajim(m): 10:25pm On Feb 12, 2008
Yoruba men are funny about what? Well, it depends on how you present yourself and why you left your former husband. If you are a reasonable excuse and you are good for him, he would take you. At 38, I don't think he would reject a 34 year lady.

By the way has he proposed to you or you are trying to propose to him? Because, he must have seen your status before approaching you. And if he is still in the dark, tell him and let him decide what to do.

You do not have anything to lose baby.  Go for it and give it your best shot.  Most 19 year old females cannot even find husbands these days.-----Them full for Nairaland---dey roam around----pretending to be going to school! grin  You got it made a say.  Besides, you have got your kids so, that is not going to be an issue. The age difference is just perfect. kiss

As for not being the right one for you--life is a game of chance, you never know till you try.  Odds are 50/50 it would work in your favor--that is a good chance any man or woman should be willing to take.  If you are worried about what he thinks, then discuss it with him and find out how he feels ok? kiss

As far as what his village thinks about you having kids, just bone them and concentrate on your relationship.  I hope your man is wise enough to keep ALL busy bodies out of your home--like mine. cool

As long as your baby got your back and front---you have little to worry about!

Goodluck and have no fear! kiss

I love some ladies cos they like to deceive themselves in the name of some fetish love. They believe that even if something isnt right, when they repeat it several times, it'd be right. Few days ago, u posted u were shagging ur ex-bf's friend and hoping he's gonna marry u. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?topic=111355.msg1934310#msg1934310
I'm guessing he hasnt proposed yet (just like ur post indicates); why are u deceiving urself? Most peeps on that thread told u that the guy u are shagging will likely choose his friend over u. Now, u have shifted the goal posts with regards to age just to try to convince urself u meet the requirements. Well, goodluck!

You're welcome!

Didnt mean to make u feel like poop but sometimes we all have to face REALITY. Confront ur issues head-on and hope for the best. If a dude loves u, age is hardly an issue, regardless of nationality or ethnicity. Now, if a guy is just using u to pass time, u are just passing time; nothing more nothing less!
Re: 34 Years Old And No Husband by Bossman(m): 12:36am On Feb 13, 2008
Not a big deal at all. Plus, you already have kids. Now, does he have kids, want kids, or do you plan on having kids together, you have to consider everything. Also, has he ever been married. You should really have a talk with him. Then you will know where he is coming from and what his plans are. Heck! He is 38, and not getting any younger. smiley

My dear go for it,

Stay positive,

And by the grace of God everything will fall into place.

Don't let this pass u by.

Best of luck. wink
Re: 34 Years Old And No Husband by uspry1(f): 4:03am On Feb 13, 2008
No, you are NEVER TO BE OLD having a date with a 38 years old Nigerian despite of your previous marriage and raise two kids.

Your man loves who you are, not about your age. Age is just number! Trust with your heart, mind, body, and soul! Be faith! Make this relationship work for the better chance!
Re: 34 Years Old And No Husband by debosky(m): 4:05am On Feb 13, 2008
y'all should read the other thread - the man did not say he wants to marry her

she is sleeping with a man who is her ex's best friend, while supposedly keeping it from the ex.

that is not a nice way to start a relationship, not to talk of marriage. Stop acting like a Hot teenager and THINK about what you really want out of this relationship and then you will have some success. wink

Its just funny the kind of advice people give on Nairaland.

How can you advise someone to marry a man and forget his family or village like she put it? Have you thought of what her place in that family will be if the guy is no more there? For a lady to mention that she has 2 kids from previous marriage means she herself know its an issue between her, the new guy, and his family if not she wont say it! Yet some people open their mouth to say shit eventhough they never been in that position before.

All the same, all I can say is that you really need to sit down and talk with this guy seriously. You need to know what he think about your kids cux they'll be part of the family. You need to know what his family think about him marrying a lady with 2 kids already (I don't give a f**K what nl said before) we're african whether you like it or not we'll act like one atleast one Judas from his family will raise an issue on that.

If you guys are just banging eachother then forget all I said and don't expect him to tell you the truth! he'll only tell you the things you want to hear but if you guys have plans to get marry, you two need to talk.

And for those that don't know, they said marriage is a union not only between two people but between two families, two villages, or even two diff states! (EXCEPT IN YOUR BEDROOM).
You might not give a f**K when you man is alive but ask those that their husband are no more! the family will make you live in bondage without him and don't even pretend like its easy or fun to just fasshy/forget them and move on!

AVOID GOING INTO THAT KIND/TYPE OF FAMILY If YOU SEE IT COMING! DONT MAKE MARRIAGE A DO OR DIE THING!
Re: 34 Years Old And No Husband by waleab: 9:39am On Feb 14, 2008
A prince indeed. thanks jare. i am always shocked every time i see peeps say forget the whole family it is only you 2. lie x 1000 times
Re: 34 Years Old And No Husband by RDynamite(f): 4:05pm On Feb 14, 2008
First of all, the topic shoulda read sumin like 'Divorced and searching for a new man'. When I saw the topic I rushed to tell you that my cousin got married at 34 in 2006 so you shouldn't worry but only to discover a whole new drama.

Women and their emotions!

Hang on! You 'left' your husband, left your boyfriend and now shagging your ex' friend. Feels like you sipping some complicated juice, innit?

I don't know how "Yoruba people" are when it comes to this kind of situation and I don't care to know but if the man was my brother I'll want him to marry a woman without 'issues'. It's just better and no one has to take panadols unnecessarily. There's a lot of drama that comes with this kind of situation. I, for one don't have the nerves for such. Family wahala, Baba!

However, I'll advise you to get a good job if you don't have one and look after your kids. Don't know what went on in the previous marriage but I hope your ex-husband contributes to the welfare of your children.

Debo and Delta, dalu nu o! wink

@R-Dynamite:
Can we find more of you/your type of lady in NL? Girls that keep it real and tell the truth instead of trying to be wannabes and pretend that nothing dey happen even when house dey on fire? I wonder how a lady can open her mouth and advise another woman to go into a man's family and don't give a f**k about his family or carry her issues into another family and pretend like its not there? All in the name of "marriage between a man and woman" without first discussing it and knowing how the guy's family feel! people dey Oh!
