It is universally believed by christians and non-christians that Jesus was the MOST perfect being that ever walked the earth. OK, on a purely humanistic level, Jesus may indeed have been a good man. But I think over the years following his death, a great deal of doctrinal embelishment were crafted on cosmetically on the figure of Jesus. Think of the Arian controversy (in which the question at issue was whether Jesus was simply FLESH, SPIRIT or BOTH) which was not settle until the late 4th century. Even After the Council of Nicea (325CE) which was called by Emperor Constantine, christians carried on killing each other for many decades over the real nature of Jesus. This fact is demonstrated by the very diverse nature of the christain landscape in the first 4 centuries, until christianity became the religion of the Roman empire. At this point, with the military arsenal of the Roman empire behind it, orthodox (Roman) christianity persecuted all other christian sects to extinction. Hence the demise of the various Gnostic traditions, and Arianism.

But is this what Jesus would have favoured? Why was it not very obvious to his immediate followers in the early days, exactly what nature Jesus was? Why did it have to be settled in a conference (like we settle political disputes then and now)? Can we trust the verdict of these various Councils called to resolve the matter?

Why did Jesus not ensure that HIS very nature would be communicated in such a manner as to leave NO doubt absolutely as to who he REALLY was? Was the Gnocticism or Docetism the correct view of Jesus?

Thanks; But I would expect the Qu'ran to be even less reliable about Jesus than the Christian texts, given that the Qu'ran was written many centuries after Jesus lived (if he did) and all reliable records about him seemed to have been "destroyed" in the 1st century.

BTW, the Qu'ran is on a par with the bible for it monstrosity, if not more. I do not know a great deal about the i-slamic tradiction. so I cannot elaborate further.

he said reason not argue the reason of my hope. Remember Jesus Christ doesnt have to prove to the Pharisees that He resurrected. He finally said that blessed is anyone that believes even though He has not seen becos it is given to those that grace has been given to understan.
