Most people are familiar with Amazon and its affiliate program, however there are times that I want to hit a niche of physical products more quickly than I can with a new site. A new site takes time – researching the competition, adding the content, and building backlinks. When you start from scratch, you’ve got to put in some elbow grease, maybe even some money, to get going.

Squidoo is a great solution for those times when putting up a full site just isn’t going to cut it. Maybe you want to make some quick sales. Maybe you want to test out the niche before you invest too much time and money. Maybe you want to hit some holiday-specific products but not with a site that’s going to sit dormant the rest of the year. Maybe you want an easy way to teach people how to make money online without setting up domains and hosting

Squidoo is flexible. It is easy to use. It loves Amazon.


Although Squidoo has a rule that you can’t include more than 9 outbound
links per page to the same domain (unless you’re a Giant level on Squidoo – a level of achievement you may be granted after producing a certain number of lenses) , this rule is waived for linking to Amazon, including your Amazon associate links.

The objective is to build single pages on Squidoo that:
• target a low competition keyword where the keyword meets certain product and competition criteria

• uses additional long tail keywords in the content to cover the topic from a number of angles and reach more keyword searches

• promote products on Amazon with your affiliate links (or Squidoo’s Amazon links)

Squidoo is a web 2.0 site that lets you create pages – called “lenses”. It’s free to use. Squidoo places ads around your content and shares the revenue they make from those ads with its members.

Your lens may or may not make ad revenue income but that’s not the goal. If you make extra, great, but the goal is to promote Amazon products and make commissions by generating sales at Amazon through your affiliate links.

Squidoo has pre-designed building blocks - called “modules” – you can drag and drop in any order to help you create your lens. This takes care of a lot of the formatting for you which is why a lot of beginning internet marketers get comfortable with the Squidoo platform very quickly.
These modules allow you to enter text, HTML, insert a YouTube video, and promote Amazon products.
There are several benefits to using Squidoo over other web 2.0 sites:
• Strong internal linking structure helps you gain traffic from other Squidoo lenses

• RSS feeds available for your individual lenses or collectively through your profile page to help you generate automated backlinks to your lenses

• Profile pages that can gain their own page rank (my profile page is currently a PR5) and on which you can place links to your other projects

• Very supportive of Amazon Associates

• Special Amazon modules that you can use to promote Amazon even if you can’t get your own Amazon Associate account

• Opportunity to earn additional money through Squidoo’s revenue sharing program

• PR7 home page that also displays popular lenses and links to category pages where your lens might be listed – lots of flowing link juice in their site structure

Squidoo has a few topics that it does not allow. Although most Amazon products do not fall into this category you should familiarize yourself with Squidoo’s Terms of Service here: http://www.squidoo.com/squidoo-policy-update.
