Assuming ACN, CPC, and ANPP merge, would you vote for a Fashola/Shekarau Presidential ticket in 2015? Fashola is a media darling and will easily win the southwest and perform well (though not necessarily win) in the middle belt. Shekarau, raised his profile when he exceeded very low expectations in the 2011 Presidential debate. He was articulate and appeared like the kind of Northerner that Southerners would not mind voting for. The two biggest comma issues with this ticket are the following:

1. Do Buhari and Tinubu want to run for President or VP? If Buhari runs he will definitely get between 9 and 12 million votes and thus hurt the chances of this ticket. If Tinubu has national political ambitions, he could potentially frustrate Fahsola.

2. Will Goodluck get the 98% and 97% of votes that he got in the Southsouth and Southeast? For this ticket to succeed, the candidates will need to make inroads into the Southsouth and Southeast. Endorsements from people like Okorocha will help. However, the candidates have to make inroads before people like Okorocha can put their credibility on the line.

In my opinion, what this ticket would need is the full unequivocal endorsement of Buhari. That will give them 9 - 12 million votes to start with in the Core North. Fashola has the clout to deliver the Southwest and he has the goodwill to be competitive in the Middle Belt. The last piece of the puzzle will be the Southeast and the Southsouth. If Fashola gets more than 20% in those regions, he could be elected President.

What do you think?

Only Tribalism, Cronysm and Sentiment will deny them the Victory if the plan works out.Even in South East, they will perform above 50%.

The fact that both fashola and shekarau are Muslims makes the ticket a little hard to sell in some regions of the country. 2015 is too big an opportunity for acn, cpc and anpp to play with so hopefully they will present candidates that are truly electable in all parts of the country.

In 1993, SDP ran MKO Abiola and Baba Gana Kingibe for President and VP and they were both Muslims but they won the South decisively. The point I am making is that Southerners are not afraid of voting for Muslims. Fashola and Shekarau are mainstream personalities that can win the votes of Christians.

when you say both are Muslims, please realise that some muslims are different from others. I don't mind a Christian ruling my state anyday anytime.

See 1993 is a very long time ago. The demography of Nigeria has changed terribly since then. The huge Pentecostal churches were just starting then and did not really have any influence on politics. Majority of voters are not as educated as you and I and would simply vote how their pastor or imam tells them too. 2015 is too big an opportunity to take this risk.
@alh harem, thank God U said u do not mind a Christian ruling ur state. Always remember that UR views do not represent the views of Nigerian's as a whole.

Yeah quite right but my view represents the majority of Nigerians Muslims. I can't not speak for boko haram people but I know good willing Muslims don't mind if truly they are following the ways in which Allah asked us to behave.

Fashola is going into retirement after his second term. Remember there was a senator so good called Mamora. After serving as speaker of state assembly and having a term at senate, Tinubu retired him. Tinubu himself is interested and that will surely see Fashola off the political scene from 2015
Re: Fashola/Shekarau 2015 Presidential Ticket???? by Nobody: 7:26am On Dec 19, 2012
A fashola/shekarau ticket would only win in the southwest.Have you forgotten that the north is already occuppying the vp slot. There are not interested in playing second fiddle.

It would also fail woefully in the south east,south-south and the middle belt.

Do not think everone is happy with fashola, the millions of frustrated pedestrians waiting for two hours @ bus stops and been forced to trek long diostances because of the okada ban would not forgive.Do not think because the less affected people who have cars and laptops and access to the internet would be praising him but these poor folks who constitute the majority will not vote for him

I indeed pity those poor folks because they do not know what is right or wrong for them. Ban of Okada with or without ACN/FASHOLA IS HERE TO STAY IN LAGOS. I am a PDP man and I can categorically tell you that PDP government would do the same if they do not want to lose as well. In fact this Fashola second term, the only thing worth of praises Fashola did is this ban of Okada. Even likes of Bode George and PDP Lagos chapter cannot fault it, why do you think that is the case ? Or do you think is by accident ?

Why would I vote for Fashola when I could easily vote for Rochas, Chime, Peter Obi, Pat Utomi, Okonjo Iweala, Soludo or even Ameachi paired with Ribadu? In which way is Fashola/Tinubu/Shekarau better than any of these aforementioned folks? Or simply because of the media hypes? Or is there any rule that suggest that only Hausa and Yorubas should be continually voted into power?

Make no mistake, Fashola is only known in the SW, and if he is challenged by any of the folks listed above, he will never get 5% of the SS/SE votes. As for Rochas endorsing Fashola, well if he is ready for political death, let him go ahead.

I am part of the folk. I live in MAKOKO the slums of the slums in Lagos so what are you talking about. In fact Makoko, Bariga and co are the only areas Okadas are still operational and I am against them.

A smarter move for them is to adopt a SE presidential candidate like Soludo, or Rochas. Any other permutation will deepen the division and suspicion.

WHY AND WHY MUST NIGERIANS VOTE FOR AN IGBO OR SE MAN/WOMAN RATHER THAN A COMPETENT NIGERIA THAT WOULD SOLVE OUR COLLECTIVE PROBLEMS.

Banning Okada without providing alternative is not only mindless but totally heartless, both to the Okada riders and passengers. It will haunt Fashola/ACN in the polls in 2015.

My guy sharap and keep your bigotry to yourself. What is not competent about Rochas, Soludo and those that I mentioned? Or does being Igbo make them any less competent than other ethnic groups? Besides where did I mention Igbo in my initial comment? Quit that weed you are smoking, I suppose it's too early in the day.

The Op ask how the SE/SS will vote a Fashola/Shekarau - a North/SW ticket. I proffer an alternative, and you are blabbing Igbo this and that all over the place like a stricken mofo. You have not answered my question

If means of transport : Nothing good comes easy and to do the right thing at times, we step on toes. Okada is illegal and has killed too many people. There is no point in risking your life just to get somewhere. it is senseless.

If means of income : This Okadas have made our youths less creative in terms of oppotunities and innovative business they can do. You do not have to be educated to start a business. I remember one Obalende suya man that told me that the youths are now lazy. This man came from a very very poor family in Kaduna at a very young age, he came to lagos slept under the bridge for days thinking of what to do. He then saw a ram walking, he killed the ram and used it for suya. He did this 3 times then started his business. Today he is big reasonably without riding Okada or stealing. It is all favour from God and not Okada.

This is some sick joke I suppose. So you recommend criminality and stealing people's ram as an alternative to Okada? Or you think Lagos is a jungle where rams lives and roams without ownership? How will you feel if a Lagosian travels to Kano or say Sokoto, sees a cow roaming, kill it and sell the meat at pepper soup joints? Repeat same three times and becomes a business man?

You call this criminality favour from God? Guy, your brain damage is worse than I thought. I wonder the kind of education some of you receive over there. Your sense of crime and criminality is very warped, no wonder human lives hold no value for the boko boys!
