THE WAKE

your taste still lingers in my mouth
can't get over it
never felt that way
was it what you did when you went down south
that perfume
your hair
naughtiness of your play
couldn't catch that sleep for a while
no doubt
because I never thought I'd live to see that day
when a woman would make me scream and shout
I'm aflame in this ecstatic blaze
see now I'm burning from inside out
now I open my eyes to the brilliance of your gaze
oh my God
do I hate this wake!
