Love covereth all sins according to the bible. Will you date or marry a smoker you love so much knowing full well the health risk from second hand smoking? |
Re: Love by skyone(m): 4:39pm On Feb 20, 2008 |
That depends if the man love you sincerely, if he does 'he will surely stop smoking even before the wedding day. |
Re: Love by Nobody: 4:40pm On Feb 20, 2008 |
My Ex used to smoke but he would always leave the room when he wanted to smoke. He gave it up sha on his own later in the relationship. My Life Philosophy is dont bother me, and i wont bother you. As long as what you do will not directly hurt me, then you can live your life as you please. |
Re: Love by NaJaHaJe(f): 4:53pm On Feb 20, 2008 |
@topic Yes I will date a smoker providing he's agreed to make arrangements to quit. I will be more than willing to help him fight the addiction. Bible also says Love suffereth all things and is longsuffering, patient. I like to think Love is tough. My ex was a smoker but with time and much patience (it took a lot out of me but as they say love is stupid sometimes) he finally gave up. |
Re: Love by Gamine(f): 5:17pm On Feb 20, 2008 |
Not possible A correct christian guy will not be a smoker A guy will only change if he wants to Love is a choice not by force No need to commit suicide abeg. You have too much to give, to live to waste your time on him |
Re: Love by oziomatv(m): 5:37pm On Feb 20, 2008 |
Smoking has not been proved as sin and has nothing attached to once way of life. But the big deal on it is the healthwise risk attached to it which is more dangerous than alcohol. I hate smoking and will advice and help my partner to gragually put a stop on it. Thank God no one smoke in my house. |

By Gamine,Is love really a choice? it makes some people helpless and nobody chooses to be helpless. |
Re: Love by Nobody: 5:51pm On Feb 20, 2008 |

Re: Love by almondjoy(f): 5:52pm On Feb 20, 2008 |
No! Used hang around smokers till I got the right education and orientation. Will not date one. Cannot marry one. I can't stand the smell and cancer from second hand smoke is real! |
Re: Love by Gamine(f): 6:04pm On Feb 20, 2008 |
It is Funmi. Because you love someone dosnt mean you cannot love another. A love that makes you helpless is no love at all. if you chose that kinda partner, you chose to be helpless Love is Realistic, Tough, Tenacious. If the partner claims to love you and dosnt love him/herself someone smoking surely dosnt love him/herself Na lie. Love your neighbour as yourself, thats what my bible said |
Re: Love by HotFunmi1(f): 6:14pm On Feb 20, 2008 |
By Germine,@bold, depends on your ideology. Personally, I neither smoke nor drink and am yet to have any association with those that do but, smokers will be quick to label you a hypocrite when you condemn them for smoking while carrying a can of soda or coffee or a wrap of junk sandwich. Many things are dangerous to health my dear, even love itself because it leads to heartbreak and heartbreak is the number one cause of depression in women. GMF are as dangerous as ciggy's and we eat them out here everyday. The tobacco stench gives me sleeze balls tho. |
Re: Love by NaJaHaJe(f): 6:18pm On Feb 20, 2008 |
@Hot.Funmi what is 'sleaze balls'? |
Re: Love by sammy6(m): 6:19pm On Feb 20, 2008 |
Im shocked and suprised at the way some nairalanders reaction to this topic,Smoking is nothing more than a mere habit.what you should be intrested in is how to get the person to stop smoking |

Thanks AJ Hot.Funmi: so what does this mean? my apologies if they sound like silly questions |
Re: Love by 4Him(m): 6:31pm On Feb 20, 2008 |
Dont misquote the bible . . . Love covereth all sins only in the event that the sinner recognises his sins and is repentant. In that regard . . . no amount of love will make me marry a smoker. |
Re: Love by Gamine(f): 6:32pm On Feb 20, 2008 |
@AJ I am looking for them. @Funmi There are too many things we do in this world we dont even know is dangerous to our health. But something as glaring as smoking? Haba. Anyways, i used to like the smell of the smoke. that would have been my addiction but when you see the picture of a charred lung your mind will be forced to do a 180. Besides, the addiction to sugar is not as strong as nicotine |
Re: Love by HotFunmi1(f): 6:34pm On Feb 20, 2008 |
By 4Him, Is smoking a sin? and I didn't see where the bible wrote the only in the event part. Don't add your common sense to the bible abeg. |
Re: Love by NaJaHaJe(f): 6:39pm On Feb 20, 2008 |
Hot.Funmi: Smoking is not a sin. What it does to your body is disrespect to its creator. It is an insult to have disregard for the beauty of His work. A smoker is basically taking the p*ss with their body. @Gamine Defining a 'proper Christian' by his/her smoking habits is very wrong. Every Christian is coming some sort of sin. Because its not out in the open does not mean they are proper Christians. |
Re: Love by HotFunmi1(f): 6:44pm On Feb 20, 2008 |
By Naja haje,Same goes for GMF, soda, sodium we consume everyday. I am tired of so many Nigerian christians that translate the bible from their own perspective. Some will swear by their God in heaven that drinking alcohol constitutes a sin when the bible clearly states that it's only sinful when you abuse it. And, where in the bible did the body disrespect come in? that means that those that rarely wash themselves because they can't afford water or soap or toothpaste are offending God? |
Re: Love by 4Him(m): 6:45pm On Feb 20, 2008 |
Hot.Funmi: It is not clearly written that it is a sin but anything that defiles your body (the temple of the holy Ghost) such as smoking is a sin. I certainly would not want this to turn into a religious discussion but permit me just this post: The wages of sin is death (Romans 6: 23) . . . does that mean God does not love the sinner? Unfortunately the only way the blood of Christ shed on the cross avails for the sinner is only if he/she repents of sin . . John 3:16. Its just that simple . . . you sometimes dont need the bible to put things in plain english for u before u begin to connect the dots to understand what it says. Back to the topic . . . even moralists and atheists think smoking is wrong . . . |
Re: Love by NaJaHaJe(f): 6:50pm On Feb 20, 2008 |
Hot.Funmi: I still stand by my word: Smoking is not a sin For the life of me i can't remember where in the bible but there is this bit that says your body is the temple of the living God and you should not misuse it or something like that. It may not have used the word disrespect but it was clearly implied. |
Re: Love by HotFunmi1(f): 6:52pm On Feb 20, 2008 |
It is not clearly written that it is a sin but anything that defiles your body (the temple of the holy Ghost) such as smoking is a sin. I certainly would not want this to turn into a religious discussion but permit me just this post: My question remains the same, if you see what soda does to your body or what sodium do to your blood pressure, you may think twice before taking them. lack of exercise is another major killer but it's not classified as a sin or are they all sins? ain't we defining these things more than God that created them? What about sexual habits like cunnilingus and MouthAction b/w married couples that can infect the giver with yorimus carinii(lol), are they also sinful since it may be abusing the body? Do you know that the female honey pot is meant to be acidic for it to be healthy? If there is any change in the body and it ever becomes neutral, it will become a lethal recipe. |
Re: Love by 4Him(m): 6:52pm On Feb 20, 2008 |
Hot.Funmi: the bible is a wonderful book. Please peruse through Romans 14. It perfectly addresses this question, you can always substitute meat in that chapter for smoking or drinking. titus 2: 8 is one verse you may also want to consider looking at. |
Re: Love by HotFunmi1(f): 6:53pm On Feb 20, 2008 |
By naja Haje, The bible was making a reference to fornication. |
Re: Love by Gamine(f): 6:59pm On Feb 20, 2008 |
@Naja Haje i didnt define anyone by smoking habits. A proper christian is one who seeks redemption and lives in grace. Not I who liveth, but Christ in me. Your body is the temple of God and you should seek to keep it undefiled. The wages of sin is death The wages of smoking is death Smoking==Sin |
Re: Love by 4Him(m): 7:02pm On Feb 20, 2008 |
Hot.Funmi: did you know that gluttony and unhealthy eating habits are a sin? Hot.Funmi: this is a tough question but i believe strongly that as long as both married partners are comfortable on their marital bed . . . then they are free to approach sex however they want it. |
