IT Career Advice Needed by drexx(m): 6:08am On Dec 28, 2012
Hello peeps, i am a 200 levl industrial mathematics student of uniben. But. I have a burning itch to be in the IT world. I have been in love with computers from a young age and I find myself solving computer related problems with relative ease. I am interested in how softwares come into existence. Which branch of IT should I delve into? Is it programming? If so, where do I start from? Heard niit is the best IT school in naija. If so, wch course should I go in there to study? And what are the pre requisite skills that would enhance my understanding of the package. N/b-am very raw. Never really had an IT background. Just the little analysis of computer related problems. Pls advice needed urgently cos i need to start in my 300 level.

U̶̲̥̅̊ can get some free tutorial dumps online or better still enrol in a regular ICT training institute, U̶̲̥̅̊ can also do a self study and then apply for Some certification, just spell out the area you want to specialise and then start some where, U̶̲̥̅̊'ll gradually improve with time.

The guy pretty knows what he is fuckinly talking about. Programming is not mechanics or auto-pilot engineering. Programming is basically code, codes and more codes.

So if you can just sit down and read the right and relevant stuff, then you would start seeing result in no time you can call yourself a programmer.

If U̶̲̥̅̊ want to become a software engineer in nigeria, U̶̲̥̅̊ would av to study computer sci but in other countries, U̶̲̥̅̊ can study software engin as a course, U̶̲̥̅̊ can after ur degree do advance courses in software engineering. I.T is short form of information technology, dis days it's wider, and compasses communication ICT information and communication Tech and the jobs varies from communication to technology. Depends on what U̶̲̥̅̊ want.

Don't know what it's called at your specific school - But in general, Software engineering, computer science, computer programming, all are the same thing. You will be learning how software is developed and used to solve problems. Using a specific programming language of course.

IT, as used generally, means Information Technology. As for what IT jobs are, that is a very broad question. It spans from networking, application development/programming, Database management, etc.
