Bump

I have seen a few people on-line, but not more than one or two at a time. I want to organise an on-line meeting of all the Nairaland members on Xbox Live(or any Nigerian gamer you know). I was thinking this Sunday, the 21st of November at 9pm. We can setup a Nairaland party, and everyone can break up into whatever games they have in common.

My gamertag is "Jbankole"

i like your idea but you will need more planning like getting getting people on board a week in advance.
Anyway i'll try to be there on that day if football is not on the agender

Hi Guys grin,

Just thought i should share this with you guys

The 3 fastest connections i have personally tested for playing online on Xbox live or PSN are

1. MTN 3.5G

2. Glo 3G+

3. Swift Networks

MTN and Glo are mobile networks with coverage across most of the country. However, there 3G service is limited to mostly major cities like Lagos, Abuja, Kaduna, Benin, Port Hacourt, Kano etc Even within those states, there is no full 3G service coverage so check your area first before subscribing. Swift Networks as far as i can tell is based mostly in Lagos and provides Wifi services with blazing fast speeds i.e if you are within coverage. Both MTN and Swift Networks are now live on the Main One cable giving users low latency and steady connections. Glo also has their own submarine cable called glo-1.

If you are subscribing to either Glo or MTN, i advice you to get the N7500 (6GB)24hrs or N8000(5GB) 24hrs plans respectively. As with most mobile networks across the world, they have a bandwidth cap hence no unlimited plan. Swift Networks however does not have any bandwidth limit but services are on a burstable bandwidth basis at different connection ratios. A different price list exists for Dedicated Bandwidth and Enterprise Class Services. I will recommend the SWIFT Business & Family(24hrs) N19,500.

Now, i don't know about you but i have like 4 computers, psp and other gadgets that have internet connectivity. Friends also come over with their pc's, blackberries etc. Therefore, i bought a Linksys Router WRT54GL v1.2. It has 4 Ethernet ports with 802.11b/g wireless. I have a desktop which i use as my server. I connect my Alfa Fly 3.75G USB modem to the desktop, connect to the MTN/Glo network and using ICS (internet connection sharing) bridge my desktops lan interface with the modem interface. I now connect a normal ethernet cable from the desktops lan port to the WAN port on my Linksys router and voila ! You can now broadcast your internet over wifi or through the 4 ethernet ports available on the router. Also, NAT & UPnP are automatically setup. You can then use wifi or lan from the router to connect your PS3 or Xbox360. Sorry, i have to go now but will continue the remaining tutorial 2moro. Thanks and hope this helps.

I can technically play on Xbox live using IPNX and MTN 3G but the problem is too much lag with both. With the MTN there is also the problem of the NAT type being set to moderate which basically means that you will not be able to communicate with some people or even play with them. I don't think IPNX has this problem but I am not sure.

well for guys that don't have xbox live, there is an alternative to get online. you can use a software called xbconnect to get your original xbox or xbox360 online via system link enabled games.  Easy to use and very easy to setup. Google it or get tutorials from youtube.

Still play halo 2 online which is real fun and still have pretty healthy number of people online. You can host games and let friends join or you can join other game hosts.

The software is free.

Hey Folks , just thought I should give you this info, If you live in Lagos and you are looking for a suitable ISP for online gaming, Go For Swift broadband 4G, their service bust of 2mb/s and averagely between 1.2/1.5 mbs. I own a PS3 and I have been using it online since connecting to swift 4g, I play FIFA 11, Tekken, and COD black ops without lags, infact its going to play most games without lag. Video streaming is excellent., Just thought I let you guys know.

my PSN id is kengeorgewest or kenosas1

Hello folks smiley I'm an upcoming xbox live gamer from the north, probably the first in Kano. My first attempt will be Gears of War. My gamer tag is the one and only 'Y Krusher'. Oh yeah one more thing. Where I come from everybody talks about WINNING ELEVEN. To tell you the truth, I don't like soccer! All I need now is the perfect network and gold membership.
