People misinterprete gossip for backbitting. Gossip is done with the intention to spit or laugh at the person being gossiped while when you backbite you are hurt and you let someone know how badly you were hurt by another person. Hypocrisy is pretending to be who you are not. An unbeliever can disguise as a christian or pastor putting on a false impression to deceive.

Both gossip and hypocrisy aren't good habits to emulate. Gossip isn't good at all
nice try,but 90percent of church goers and religious peeps re hypocrites

Exactly right! Hypocrisy has become a norm in nigeria. A new version of the bible should be invented just for Nigerians with a 67th book in it, maybe call it the Gospel according to Nigeria on Excuses..

efosanice: hypocrisy for nigerians, it is our watchword, Nigeria only has the highest number of churches and mosques in a single country and it also ranks among the top 20 corrupt countries

Yes, gossip is a sin. Ever heard of the word 'back-biting'? They mean the same thing.

but dont u feign Godliness in church?...hypocrisy is now acceptable as part of our culture-crazy religious dogma.

You can't feign godliness. Godliness is shown in words and actions

Both are very easy to avoid, just make sure you always mean what you say and avoid talking about business that isn't your own.
Hold the same standards for yourself you do for others. Its not difficult

must we continue in the acts, why do we listen to our preachers,is it not for us to live by higher standards?
most people dat ave such tendencies are empty in the mind.

Nope, we mustn't. Here is the thing, envy is not an uncommon spirit in man. As long as we allow ourselves to be led by envy (sin), gossips and hypocrisy will continue to dwell with us. Our understanding of Christ will free us from these sins.
Romans 7:14-25 but I am of the flesh, sold into slavery under sin. I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Now if I do what I do not want, I agree that the law is good. But in fact it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwells within me. For I know that nothing good dwells within me, that is, in my flesh. I can will what is right, but I cannot do it. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I do. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwells within me.

So I find it to be a law that when I want to do what is good, evil lies close at hand. For I delight in the law of God in my inmost self, but I see in my members another law at war with the law of my mind, making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with my mind I am a slave to the law of God, but with my flesh I am a slave to the law of sin.

Hypocrisy is the most dangerous. It can make someone marry a mistakened saint who is actually a devil incarnate. Some people have dated people who pretend to be christians but are actually atheists or core unbelievers who smoke cigrattes, get drunk, prostitute, go clubbing, living promiscuous and immoral lives, members of dangerous occultic groups, armed robbers, ritualists who will want to use their partners for sacrifices, wife beaters and husband beaters, lesbians and gays

Gossip is the hardest sin to avoid. People are always talking about what some did with the intention to mock them.
on point ur head dey there

READ THIS- The Messenger of ALLAAH(pbuh) says" Allaah loves u for 3 things and forbade u for 3 things. He loves for u to (1)Worship only one God (2)That u do not associate partners with God (3) Be dutiful to ur parents. And he forbade (1) Giving false witnesses (2) Gossiping/Peddling false rumours (3) Disobedience to Parents. HEAR THIS TOO- The purnishment for hypocricy in d hereafter is more severe than outright polytheism or disbelieve cos Allaah says in d Glorious qur'an "surely the hypocrites shall be d most purnished in the abase of Hell Fire."
Re: Gossip And Hypocrisy: Which Is The Hardest Sin To Avoid by PENMIGHT(m): 6:04pm On Jan 09, 2013
Gossiping entails backbitting or slandering. Backbitting is saying dt which is true about a man dt which if he hears he won't like it or u wouldn't want him to hear u say such about him. Slandering is outright peddling of false things about him. Both are condemnable but slandering is worse. Most pple gossip by backbitting or slandering. The messenger of Allah says" they eat up good deeds of a man similar to d way fire ravages dried hays or fire sticks". However, islam I think make an exception. There is permisibilty to gossip about a public figure or a person in authority cos such are highly unavoidable. Allaah knows best.

did Goliath gossip or judas did?
Now if Rebekah, the mother to both Esau and Jacob did not gossip, you won't hear anything like Israel.coz Jacob will not be able to take the blessing and Esau won't held any grudge against him.So Jacob has no cause to flee to laban.

Dr Daps,no offence taken...my point is- God can use anyone to bring a prophet to the world,or use anyone for exploits-remember paul who was transformed on his way to prosecute christians?...and moreover parents talking about their offspring is not same as gossip to me-they might just favour Jacob over Esau,or probably just acting as they are led by their spirit.
