manual gives more peace of mind! though could be a little more difficult to fix than the electric.

Yes it can, but as Siena said it could result into poor gas mileage.

@all: I am also having a golf 3 that at auto mechs have boasted to save fuel if i change to manual carburretor. Are they right? what are the consequences. Tnx in anticipation

do you have the figures from the manufacture the average MPG?

you should use those figures and poor MPG can be to one's driving, overloading (which is daily bread in most african countries)poor maintenance

Even poor quality fuel give very poor MPGs

My car is a golf3, every morning after starting my car normally it runs for a minute then jerks and stop. I have to restart the car several times and every time it jerk to stop. Eventually it runs smoothly and I can drive off. Park and leave it for 2hrs later same problem again.

Its like every time the engine cools my golf needs several starts before engine runs smoothly. Now I'm told to buy a manual carburetor for 25k. Help this lady out guys, I in Onitsha an I don't want to be cheated.
