let's start with you...you say you are an upcoming author right? Do you criticise others work? I am only talking about this thread. If you have read what I wrote before I posted this story you would understand. Check the Nairaland Detection Club you will see what the few backboned people of this thread are all about. Its not just about writing, it goes way beyond that.

femarse: When I see literature and writing I thought it was about would be author tryin to help each other but the way you reviewing book by xpantiating the joke and Co and Co whitout checkin out plot style structure if its a bad written story or a bad construction not checkin if its political oriented or historicaly or pure fiction I guess if you wanna learn anything at all you need to start looking @ this things and not just talkin about the funny aspect of a story bside no one have critize any story so far I will suggest you get a copy of An Introduction to African Novel by Eustace Palmer you will learned a great deal on how to review a book you will see how all this aforemention book are disected

There used to be a discussion guide but that sort of limited the discussion so the new method was to discuss the book in anyway you want to. If you want to do a critique, analysis, review, just talk, it's still ok. Just give us what you got...

Sir,this is not the only thread on literature section,it's only a part.if you think it's childish why don't you just scoot over to the thread for 'adults'.
Here we discuss and share our thoughts on the stories and it's been great if you are not interested,it's a choice.it was nice reading from you though.

What kind of head does Oyin have sef,can you imagine being perceived as a call girl what a shame! all because she wanted to get an ipad lol.thank heavens the guy did not play along to the point of going home,he would have shown her pepper.her royal hotness oyin was even pushed to rain curses on the supposed 'fine boy' like a market pepper seller.
At least she had her friends to lift her spirit as she ascertained.
***
Who would have thought Oyin Clegg even has time for God and goes to church on sundays, but on second thought, everybody that goes to God's house has a mission-some to steal, some to scout for potential husbands or wives (like oyin),some for business and some to worship God.
'Despise not the days of little beginnings' so does the holy book preach.Oyin despised the little beginning of Femi Tosh and got a back lash in the most luxurious manner he he he.of course there would always be someone to point out a loop hole, which Toke did when oyin was blinded by the charm of Femi but stubborn miss clegg still caught the bait and fell into the trap of mr Tosh. Ah Oyin you don suffer o(excuse me english)
Re: The Book Discussion Club (africa) by HumbledbYGrace(f): 4:33pm On Mar 07, 2013
But seriously! What kind of juju was blinding miss Glegg? After hurting a guy like that she believed that he would just forgive and forget? Unless that's how Nigerian peeps operates. For a woman her age that was pure stupidity, who still remembers that Queen Latifer movie 'just Right' ? Madam here reminds me of the cousin who had no life but very beautiful to blow any man away. And then Mr collegue spoils her rotten for her to come back with another guy! What's wrong with women of this days?

jst finished reading all the episodes of 'finding hubby'

and, I've never seen a life with so much drama and heartbreaks, the heroine moved tru stages in her life, that wisened her up, am glad for her that she got her happy ever after finally, offcourse this is fiction, chances of it happening in reality is slim...... but then i also learnt a great deal though am not gonna be near 30 soon, i hope girls don't exhibit impatience and make such huge mistake finding hubby

thanks poster for the link, it was worth it. cool

yeah, am not new on nairaland, just went on a sort of break...... but nairaland keeps drawing me back wink

Yeah, Amen to that sister, cos finding hubby is not easy oh....

so what's the talk in reality bite?

*but do people actually live the kind of life oyin has?*shocked
Re: The Book Discussion Club (africa) by Nobody: 5:28pm On Mar 10, 2013
Oyin seems to be too blind to see that osita could be the one for her.for heaven's sake what has someone's nickle got to do with the personality, but of course Gloria saw potentials in him and seized it.
Now here's what shocked me: just when i was beginning to rejoice that she has finally found the one, they even did the noble thing of introducing their families and were planning to get married,we find out the guy was actually gay.
You know there's one prayer we usually pray and it's lord don't let me miss it maritally. I think Oyin Clegg has totally missed it,she majored on the minor and minored on the major.it's such a pity that she gets disappointed at every attempt though.i just wonder how she's ever going to recover from this rude shock.

But the package that was gonna come with the with that marraige was quiet tempting. A pity they ruined the wedding for her.

Girl you won't just marry an Obese guy because he is thee most loving guy on earth would you?

breathing:

Goodmorning. It's not every book one can post here, the authors wouldn't like that. Anyway, in this case, maybe we should start off with Chimamanda Adichie's 'The thing around your neck'. It's a collection of short stories, most or all of which are available online. I could post the stories here while we discuss them one after the other, I already found an interesting reading guide for it. With time we'd find other easily accessible books too. What do you think.

@D-deola: Hi, tnx for starting this too, really nice.

Well said. One has to be careful. Spoke with Farafina COO and one of their main issues are illegal copying of their books by pirates and online. Adichie would vex.
