Fellow nairalanders... For almost two years now,I've been googling this "how to make money as a student".I've seen so many scams and joined too many websites, not one of them has produced anything meaningful...the highest thing is that they ask you to pay for ebooks and some other "packages" that can make u "ur own boss in no time"...
I've become so tired of this but I refuse to give up,I am not after any get-rich-quick scheme,I just need something that can earn me money at least on a weekly basis. I am a very good writer, but I havnt come across any legit writing job or website that pays nigerians, most of them require opening a paypal account.
I really need a small job I could do while studying,so that I can releive my parents of some financial burden.

If u have any ideas on jobs students can do especially online,or know any well paying student job, kindly share it would be helpful not only to be but other nigerian students who share my plight....thanks

This might be a long shot in the dark, but hey, what have you got to loose?

Why don't you approach the Editors (or whoever, not sure) of some of the national newspapers? You say you're interested in writing? So maybe if you showcase some of your work to them, they might take you on to feature as a columnist on a trial basis?

So, you might write on something you've got a passion for - be it sports, food, etc.

Just a suggestion though...

If you're a good writer, you're self-employed already my brother! The whole money anybody needs in this wide wicked world is all in the pocket of men; all you need do is provide the service and they will beg on their knees to give you the money - not you asking!
Have you ever thought of why MTN, Etisalat, Airtel, Globacom and other GSM network provider never beged you to buy their air-time? The simple answer is because they had provided the service; and you pay in turn to subscribe!
The beginning of every successful journey is tough though! Endure the heat life hits you with; it will soon cool off!
What exactly do you write on - may i ask?

Have you shown them samples of your work?

What's your genre?

I dunno how it really works at your end...

My suggestion would have been that you start by identifying the Newspaper / Magazine editors of your choice. If you're able to get hold of their contact email address, then that's a step in the right direction. Then you can start by telling them what you feel you can offer them (you know, more like selling yourself / your talent/ skills...and then attach an uncompleted sample of your work...) I am presuming that you've got samples of your very own written work? Yes?

Like I mentioned in my first post, it's a long shot and it may or may not yield the result you yearn for. Either way, there's no harm trying as you've got nothing to loose. Also, try speaking to people in that line of business such as journalists for helpful hints on how to get your leg on the ladder.

Best of luck though! smiley

i have sent the ppl manual to ur email. U said ur genre is prose. I will like to tell u to think of writing how to articles and get paid. Writing stories may fetch u nothing. Moreover, which site will pay u to write stories 4 them? Hardly will u find any tru one. I promised u somethings to ur mail. ......Still processing them.
