Old news, but funny though and got all of us cracked up. The letter exemplifies the intense competition in investment/finance. That's why I laugh when some really optimistic people say some things here on nairaland. Imagine that dude, with a near perfect GPA, i.e. 3.94/4.00, humbling himself to just land an ordinary internship. Experience really is the best teacher. One may never know how hard and competitive something is until one goes into it.

Yes, finance can make people well-off suddenly, but the competition is crazily mad.

In the world of investment/finance, especially in the US, many interns with GPAs near 4.9/5.0 or 3.99/4.00 are ready and happy to do anything just to get their foot in the door and learn the basics. They are ready to shine shoes for associates, fetch coffee for MDs and run errands for 2nd and 3rd year analysts. And they will do all these with a happy face . Most kids gravitate towards investment/finance hoping to become Ray Dalio, Jamie Dimon or Lloyd Blanfield in the future.

So, for interns and new analysts in the aforementioned profession, fetching coffee is never a strange thing.
