Na wa o. You guys should just take a chill pill.

@Larry, I cannot help but agree with most things you have said so far.

@HBG, you are going nowhere jare. Criticism would surely come at some points in our lives. Would you abandon your book, just because you suspect a reader would come in and call it trash? No one writes a perfect piece.

@white mosquito, you have a point. Criticism makes one stronger and better if accepted. But commendation when deserved does much more; it boosts confidence. Anyway, I do not see how comparison with another writer helps your cause. If your hero gets more criticised than commended, do you think he'd have continued writing? I think its quite easy to express or accept blunt opinions while hiding behind a handle like yours, so you are doing nothing special. I agree with the others that mac was a bit too blunt. If telling someone that 'he typed his piece just to make up the required number of words', is 'constructive criticism', it is very much ill-dressed to the occassion.

@Efemena, I'm not sure Frank used that name with you in mind. We'd have him change it.

I think we should relax and make this as much fun as we can. It's not a contest. What's more it's our first time together. Cut yourselves some slack.

Okay, I'm just waking after more than 9 hrs of sleep or was it less.
I av seen the aftermath of my little ermmm....drama.
I wanted to just forget and let it slide, but water under the bridge is not always a blessing.
Xsolution thank you for defending me jare.
Mynd, I av little to say to you. I've been noticing jabs in ur posts to me, it is not my imaginations at work, I actually notice them. I want to believe u dont always mean them and that they're only innocent moves. I might not agree with Mr X as to the cause of these, but I know there is a form of "these"
I bolded a part of ur post I quoted in order to draw attention away from the other part, I was trying to convince myself u didnt mean it.
Last night my brain was tired and fray, u stepped on my nerves at the wrong time albiet probably innocently, as I want to believe.
We have a history that is not so ermmm....smooth, so ur moves may be ermmm.....subconsious.
I wont apologise for last night cos I meant every word I said.
I expect ur usual short boring replies, Can u disappoint me?
Once again thank you Xsolutions.
I feel a sort of weird de ja vu!
Oh! I moving into hostel today guys, wish me luck! Dirty boys hostel, time to activate Suffer-head mode.

*'Babel' comes to mind...*
(Or maybe a novel within a novel)
So will Larry kill Frank's Efe or just change the name to Cynthia?!
Is there more to Efe's reaction or shez just being Frank?
Can HBG be persuaded? Will she express her real fears?
What do the Mosquitoes have in Mynd?
The plot thickens...stay tuned!

emm... 'Hiding behind this handle' does not by any stretch of the phrase imply that you are Redmos. I wonder why you brought that up. It simply means you are relishing the anonymity it gives you (with a sort of shared identity), being as blunt as you can with comments. I get your story... You just joined nairaland, you chose 'white mosquito' on your own, met redmosquito afterwards by chance and sparks flew. That's the stuff of fantasy romance novels.

No. I joined naira land to critique African Nerd, tho he is unaware. I discovered he was writin somethin new so i decided to follow that. 'White moss' is an irony,I had been viewing from d guest canopy for abt a yr. Reading the works here,It struck me as odd dat no one ever critiqued the literature. The worst thin ever said abt any story is 'its too long. Can someone plz summarize?' (Which is a very bland flavour of stupidity in itself). We were taught that a critique is against ur WORK NOT ur PRSN....der is talent here but ppl take criticisms too personally.

Yeah, yeah... White mosquito is the name of a real type of mosquitoes with black and white stripes. Its funny how you spend so much time trying to downplay the same identity you sought to establish with the handle. tongue
About writing a critique. People are different, you should know that. No critique is constructive if it leaves the ego of the writer in shambles. How you toss the ball matter determines how the other person recieves it. That's how I see it.

Efemena_xy: Larry. angry angry

Are we gonna take this writing exercise seriously or not??

I've just had a read of Frank's contribution and I'm pissed off to say the least.

While the general consensus here is that this piece of work is based on fiction, must the writers here use the names of other writers in this story? Why does Frank see it fit to name a character here Efe?

Do I take it then, that it'll be okay for me to introduce characters in the story and name them Ishilove, Mazi, Mynd or nicknamed HumbledByGrace?? Is there a sudden shortage of names to pick from that suddenly makes Efe the best option??

I will not partake in a project set to ridicule me, no matter how innocent it might look at the start. Pls call your writer to order to make that adjustment.

wow, sorry i used the name Efe. i never even knew that was your name. well sorry
Re: Nairaland Detection Club by frank317: 1:11pm On Feb 12, 2013
so guys, i think if you read the two books i posted on Nairaland, my tenses are always my problem. i am really working on them, like i once said to one of my critiques, i know and i am quite sure that i am a very good story teller, but not a good writer, however i am working real hard to ensure that i improve on my writing skills as that is the only way i can pass my message perfectly. an editor once rejected my work becos she felt i wosnt the writer, cos seeing how i spoke, she couldnt believe such a a guy who spoke well could make such errors.

Efe , i didnt have u in mind when using that name, i used it cos i liked it. but why are u mad? if it were my name i wouldnt feel bad.

in fact i am more concerned in ensuring that i dint derail from the story. was i on point? leave error and tell me if the my part of the story made sense in relation to Larry's
