I have googled, binged and yahoo'ed but no accurate answer and thats why I came on here to get real info from people with experience.
Does anyone know the process of getting back your Nigerian passport after renouncing it or giving it up to obtain another country citizenship. I am just curious about the process.

Well,there is no process,i renouced mine and i have taken another one in lagos and have been using it since.(tired of applying for Nigeria visa)

I know about the process. Last time at MMA I saw one of the immigration official gave one Nigerian woman with a foreign passport the telephone number of who to contact to get another Nigeria passport and she said it will take just two days.
So its clearly possible without hassle or stress, I am just curious if there is a proper process to follow to get it back after giving it up.
For all other countries (the ones I'm familiar with) its possible and the process straightforward.

There is no proper process. It's Nigeria, no reliable database and If you were born Nigerian, you can't give up your citizenship unless the President accepts your Renounciation.

So when next you are in Nigeria just get a New Passport, it's as simple as that.

Thanks. I'm curious as too how you renounced it in the in first place? I am contemplating taking up a Singaporean passport sometime in the future but I have to renounce the Nigerian one because Singapore doesn't recognize dual citizenship . I really don't have any problems with this, since Nigeria doesn't have a database, I could easily pick it up again.Besides, once you are born Nigerian you are forever a Nigerian unless the President accepts your renunciation. Effectively, a Nigerian by birth cannot lose his citizenship unless the President sanctions it.

Back to my question? What was the process to renounce your citizenship to take up the Austrian Citizenship?

i renounce mine long time ago,the process is very simple,i fill a form at the Nigeria embassy in Vienna paid some money for the renouncation,my Nigeria passport was collected from me and i was given a renouncation letter to be submitted to the Austrian authority.

Ok Thanks.How do you fly in now? Let's assume you are flying Vienna-Frankfurt-Lagos.... How do you use the passports?
