This Sunday's Homily by HENRIETTAPOWER(f): 10:01pm On Feb 24, 2013
This story I would love to share because it is part of today's homily. There was a man who has 4 wives. The man was so rich and generous that he offers help to the community and even extends it to other communities. He helps orphans to gain a good life as well as widows. He is loved by the community to the extent that everybody prays for him. But there is a problem; he never love his wives equally. The 1st wife love him so much. She does the housechores and prepare food for him. She makes him comfortable but the man never sees anything good in her. The 2nd wife he love a little more than the 1st wife. He sees her like a confident. He goes to her anytime he is troubled and needs advice. The 3rd wife the man loves so much that he boasts of her anytime he is outside especially among his peers and friends. The 4th wife is the man's favourite. He gives everything to her. Money, takes her to vacations, buy luxury etc. One day, he fell sick. An herbalist was called upon to examine him. After the examinations, the herbalist man told them that somebody must lay his life down for the rich man to live. Everybody started murmuring. The rich man was disappointed and told the herbalist man that he wishes to die but he must die with someone since he did not enjoy alone. So, he called his 4th wife. He said "my dear, you know I love you so much. I don't want to embark on this journey of no return alone. Please, will you follow me" The 4th wife said "God forbid" and she packed her things out of the house. He called the 3rd wife and said " my dear, you know I boast of you everywhere. Please can you follow me on this journey" The 3rd wife said " what nonsense are you saying? Do you know how many suitors have been having since the day I married you. Go on your journey alone, another person would have me". He was very disappointed. He then called the 2nd wife and told her same thing. The 2nd wife was angry and said " You are a useless man. Do you know how old am I? " Then he spat on him and left. The 1st wife was at the door listening to his conversions and decided to show up. " Even in death, I still love u " she said. "I will follow u". The man bursts into tears. " Am sorrying for not taking care of you. I would have nourished you ". LESSON: Don't you think that this story is referring to us. The 4th wife in our life is OUR BODY. We feed her, relax her, buy the good things for her. We love her so much. On the day of your death, she will leave you. The 3rd wife is OUR PROPERTY. We boast of it wherever we go. We compete. We buy the best cars, houses yet it won't follow us on the last day. The 2nd wife is OUR FAMILY, FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES. These people are our confident. They won't follow you. The 1st Wife s OUR SOUL. Our soul will follow us anywhere we go. Please don't let this soul suffer. Nourish it while on earth, Feed it and make it enjoy so that it will not regret following you. Where are you going with her? HELL OR HEAVEN. DON'T MAKE THE SOUL SUFFER, NOURISH IT TODAY. THANK YOU. Join my next sunday as I bring you another homily. Until then nourish your soul.
