So the marshal should provide a student that was honest enough to return a phone he found on the street, Or remain in their custody.
My guess is that the student that found the phone and the marshal would be the first suspects that would be arrested.
Moral of the story, If you find anything that can help the police solve a case, leave it where you found it and run away!

This is why people are very reluctant to have anything to do with the police. Now they are holding the Marshal for bringing the phone to and just as they said will remain in custody except he produces the guy that picked the phone from the scene of the murder.

Though I blame d guy for touching anything at a crime scene.
