I'm taking a break from my usual threads to tell you all about what I think about python.
Feel free to disagree, but that stuff is real slow. Also, why would anyone in their right minds begin coding in something that explicitly has an issue with Multithreading? Do some research on the python GIL issue.

Python's GIL made me dump it for Java. But I don't think python itself is too slow. However, if you really want to use python for concurrent programming, consider the multiprocessing module.

You are primarily using Java for web, just go with grails. Trust me

I have plans to try grails soon. For now, I prefer Node.js for web.

In truth, there are two things that can cause a code to be slow; data structures and algorithms. Those are of course so broad, so general that they could apply to anything. But lets start with a core point; I can run a line of Python or Ruby as fast as you can run a line of C or Java.

It's all about what the line does.

So OP, go do some in depth research before you hit the new thread button!

Nigga, didn't get that from any bleeping getting started book or whatsoever. Im telling yo the fact. Maybe you should change your topic and stop generalizing. How can you say Python is slow?

I understand there some operations Python can't carry out very well, same applies to other languages. Be specific man.

Fact.

python by necessity has 2 b slow. Ruby is slow too. Grails is slow too. Java is slower thn c,c++. I took a look @ pythons selling point, all those list trcks, stuff u dnt get outta d box in other langs , ruby's sellg point also - all those stuff sittg on an intermediate lang (c) wud b makg 4 som slow code. Despite d speed of processors it seems computg is @ a bottl nck and these bottle necks r keepg c,c++,assembly alive. New radcl foundations r necessary hope dna computg and d like as against I.Cs can deliver d much needed speed boost tht will make more intelligent langs and apps possible.
