It's quite sad really. The Guardian did a series on poverty in London and it really shows that the government have no clue how to handle this crisis effectively. They cap housing-benefit (largely immigrant-oriented in London), evict loads of families who can't afford the raised rents, but then councils/tax-payers end up paying more cash than before to house them in hotels/hostels because by law these people cannot be homeless. Eeek.

I agree with taking measures but using money to dictate who can/can't enter the UK is not fair to those with plenty of sense but no cash.

It is a relatively small country and immigration is a big problem...go to places like Ealing or Southall in southwest London and you would be forgiven for thinking you took a wrong train and ended up in Bombay!

Recent census statistics show that for the first time, Ethnic Britons are a minority in London. Imagine having more Ghanians living in Abuja than actual Nigerians...

Anybody that lives in Britain knows that immigration is a serious problem that is affecting everybody...including us immigrants.

actually the greater fear right now is from eastern European EU states (Romania, Poland..), and other whites from countries where the economy is the pits (Spain, Italy..). Browns, well, thats pretty much unchanged imo

They dont need the money to feed on or prop thier economy ... It is simply an "insurance" to cushion the strain on the public resources likely to happen if people default on thier entry visa terms and conditions!
