Africa has free education. I mean the public schools. All u have to do is buy your books and uniform. Well that was how it was in Gombe State. (u only pay for after school lessons if u want to).

BUT heres the downside, public/government schools are WHACK! They teach crap, and by crap i mean crap! No one wants their kids to go to that kind of schools, so they send kids to private schools.

ANyways yeah, most of the schools in nigeria, u pay for. SO i think if the government can copy the western world's style (since that is what we do best), they should make elimentary, junior high, and high schools free (primary, secondary schools). PLus, sponsoring kids with good grades thru college/universities.

To answer your question and stop typing long stories, i thik it'd be awesome, if the government can afford to pay the teachers, and still give to student good education not minding the fact that it's free. Nigeria thinks that "nothing good comes for free, so everyone better pay if they want good education"!!

It shouldn't be so, because not everyone can afford to pay =N= 7000 (And sometimes higher) for a private school fees. When i was in S.S.S 2, i paid 9,500 naira per term. Each term is 3 months. I mean WTF?? U have three terms for each class. And that's not including, the text book fees, uniform fees, extra class lesson fee. So in S.S.2, i paid 9,500 three times. Calculate. Plus, if u dont have teh text books, u r in trouble (operation show ur text book day -- ), i mean it's totaly not fair to those who can't afford all that.

SO many kids dropping out to go sell groundnut on the street, because they were sent away from school, because they havent paid their fees. embarassed

Anyways, when NIgeria gets really solid, this thing can happen, i don't see that happening in the next five years tho. The thing is, if u have the money send your child to a better school.

Of course Africa should have free education, every country should.
But in most African countries free education basically means no education at all.

Education is the key to success.
