So many times we ponder a lot about how cruel life has treated us. We get bitter and dissatified about our present positions, unachieved goals, outstanding needs and inadequacies or physical imperfection. Have u ever thought of what someother people are going through? Do u believe that truly no condition in life is permanent?
Every great person today has one story or the other. Not all successful people inherited success. Inshort a greater percentage that inherited it miss-used it. Majority of successful leaders today were victims of poverty and amputated dreams. Failed several times. Normal people like you and I. The difference is very thin. That is the idea factor. Propensity to succeed. The drive, the vision, the perseverance. They were tired of the purpoted rumour that their entire lineage was cursed. They decided to stand out. Take the bull by the horns.

Let me stop here with the preaching. Lets look at a case study.

My cousin
Growing up was like every other Agege (a slum in Lagos) child. Both parents illiterate. The father was an unskilled factory staff who rose to become a factory supervisor. His meagre salary kept the family alive. The mother had a miniature trade she ran from home. Grinding pepper and selling cooking accessories like salt, maggi, pepper and tomatoes. They were not to keen on the importanc eof education. They knew it was important but they didnt force the children to inculcate reading as a must habit.
My cousin from childhood identified the need for excellence. Amidst hawking pepper he was unshaken in his pursuit for success and excellence. He attended public primary and secondary schools within the vicinity. But he was different. There was no iota of the debris and decay significant in his fellow peers. Exceptional all through. He had the second best WAEC result in the whole Agege area then. Best in his school. My dad was always using him as an example to emulate. Handsome, God fearing and respectiful. Very hardworking too.
He desired to be a pharmacist. His father lost his job just as he gained admission. There was a mass retrenchmnet and he was affected. He gained admission to study another less attractive but tedious science/social science/engineering course. He was promised that he could cross over if his performance after the first year is rated excellent. After the first year he cleared all his courses. The promise was not fulfilled. The department refused to release him. He chose accept his position and give his best to the course.
After five years, of struggling through school, he graduated as the best student in the faculty, he was the president of the entire faculty and also the president of his campus fellowship. Always there to lend a helping hand. Loved by all. We were in same school. He is an older cousin. Accolades upon accolades were rained on him.
On the convocation day, the father struggled to attend. He was lost in the crowd unnoticed. Then the award ceremony started. The prizes kept coming for this outstanding young man. The father could not stand up for recognition because no one would believe him. He sat there and wept for joy.
After NYSC, my cousin applied to one of the generation banks. After the training two of them were set aside. During his interview the impressed panel of interviewers requested to kno whis family background and they were shocked to know that his both parents were illiterates. The father had started work as a security man in an old generation bank.
He was given a position two levels higher than his colleagues. He automatically became a senior staff. An official driver and all the paraphenalia of office.
His life started to change. He declined to buy a car. In his first year he built his parents a house. Afterwards he bought his first personal car. 8 months after he bought a state of the art jeep. He took responsibility of his siblings schooling. Enrolled them in private universities.
Looking back to his journey i can only but praise God. He is an awesome God.
I hope this true life experience encourages us all. It is only a matter of time, all things would strengthen out.
Do not relent in your belief in Him.
Cheers
