The gifted Nigerian was allowed to go elsewhere.

Where is he heading to?

Let us wait and see, and I hate to hear that he is leaving for Qatar, for God's sake he is not due for Qatar yet, Okocha is still hot.
Re: Jay-jay Okocha Released: By Bolton Wanderers FC! by spikelord(m): 9:54am On May 08, 2006
Too bad, but I read it somewhere few weeks ago that Allardyce said he is ready to offer Okocha another contract!
Re: Jay-jay Okocha Released: By Bolton Wanderers FC! by Skintite(f): 12:36pm On May 08, 2006

@blunubian

grin grin grin grin grin

Guys,
if Okocha does not leave for Qatar, where else do you want him to go?

Will any Champion's league team put money on him?
Re: Jay-jay Okocha Released: By Bolton Wanderers FC! by my2cents(m): 5:05pm On May 08, 2006
Of course Allardyce said he would offer him a new contract - that is corporate talk grin If he didn't say that, then all the attention would have been on the speculation, which also means that it could possibly distract the other players. Not to mention, JJ could also have decided not to give his all.

As to where he will go, I am no football expert, but I doubt anywhere as good as Bolton. He will probably be in the EPL with another team for one more season. After that, he has a choice of the US (not much pay, but at least we get to hear of him grin) or Qatar (vice-versa).

Regardless, his football days are numbered and we need to realize this and prepare for the day when he will no longer be playing. Painful, yes, but tis reality.

that's my 2 cents
Re: Jay-jay Okocha Released: By Bolton Wanderers FC! by mochafella(m): 7:48pm On May 08, 2006
Somehow I don't think he wants to move to Qatar. I think he prefers his kid to be raised in a predominantly english-speaking country. If I remember correctly that was one of the reasons he moved to Bolton in the first place.

They had better have a testimonial for him when he eventually retires. One more chance to see his bag of tricks. I will never forget his "go this way" dribble between two players against England in 94. grin

""Not only for what they brought to the club in terms of experience and quality, but also for what they helped us to achieve during their time here, Nobody will ever forget their contribution."

Re: Jay-jay Okocha Released: By Bolton Wanderers FC! by my2cents(m): 8:57pm On May 08, 2006
zebudaya,

na so oyibo dey o. Case in point: back in 1999-2001, I was supposedly so good at work that my ogas openly called me the "company savior". I was also given awards and bonuses. But when things went bad, guess who was the first to go? Of course, I could go as far as thinking that being the only black man in a department of eight, chances are they let me go first as a result. But I don't want to think that way.

Bottomline, wherever you are, sleep like a cat - one eye closed, with your ears always moving around. Just as they can hire you at any minute, so they can fire you at any minute.

A word is enough for the wise grin

Re: Jay-jay Okocha Released: By Bolton Wanderers FC! by Akolawole(m): 1:25pm On May 09, 2006
This is what Okocha says :

"This is very sad for me because not until now did i realise i would be leaving but thats football. I do not hold grudges against the Manager or chairman because the club has to move on. "
Re: Jay-jay Okocha Released: By Bolton Wanderers FC! by amodu(m): 2:02pm On May 09, 2006
J J is our hero we dont just talk to him like that he has tried his best for Nigeria and Bolton so what else.

THERE IS TIME FOR PLANTING AND THERE IS TIME FOR HARVESTING.
Re: Jay-jay Okocha Released: By Bolton Wanderers FC! by Akolawole(m): 2:20pm On May 09, 2006
I am happy for his life.

Playing football at highest level for about 14 years is no joke.

Any time i remember his exploits in Premiership and his picture on the billboard in England, i am proud to be Nigerian.

The sad part of it is his Children, they are well settled in a private school in England and to leave for another place is not good for their education.

A good ambassador of our great Country.
Re: Jay-jay Okocha Released: By Bolton Wanderers FC! by bolaoni(m): 2:42pm On May 09, 2006
Yeah Kola. True word

But there is always a time for everything. Maradona couldn't continue ever so nobody will ever.

Napoli/Sevilla could have hold on to Diego for long but they have to let him go.

Let Jay Jay enjoy his wealth in one cool place he decides to settle down.

My probs isn't with Bolton or whoever but with our own country.

How will JayJay be treated after hez retired? Will will be proud enuff to honour him?

The greatest honour is we give him chance to represent is from where he became super rich.

meaning?

Talking like a true Naijaerian wink
Re: Jay-jay Okocha Released: By Bolton Wanderers FC! by Akolawole(m): 3:46pm On May 09, 2006
@BolaOni

You know there is 200,000 Okochas in Nigeria begging for Chance to play.

I was taken aback when my brother failed to be invited while his friends make it to play for Naija.

I just dey read my book jeje grin

Imagine Taribo confesses he used to live under the bridge in Lagos.
Re: Jay-jay Okocha Released: By Bolton Wanderers FC! by bolaoni(m): 4:04pm On May 09, 2006
Who be your brother? which club did he make it to?

Have you forgotten there would have been Millions of Amando in Argentina too?

Or na Pele, Romario, Cantona, Zola, Zizou or whoever.

It doesn't matter. Okocha made it to the top so we still have to celebrate him even after he is retired.

Look at what has become of yekini, Oliseh and the rest, it was as if they never donned the shirt of our country.

While clubsides are honouring their players, look at what Fiorentina did to Batigol, we as a country cannot even
organise farewell matches talk less of remembering them a year in retirement!

Too Bad!
Re: Jay-jay Okocha Released: By Bolton Wanderers FC! by Akolawole(m): 4:12pm On May 09, 2006
I wont mention my brother's name for obvious reason but his mates are Edith agoye, Gbenga okunowo, Eaglet goalkeeeper(@Meridian cup).

What do you want us to do for them?

Dont forget, we are a developing country with Abuja paying for everything our football house needs.

For a grade A match, Nigeria pay their player $8,000 per match as match bonus. $100 camp allowance etc

Even england started giving their players bonuses few years ago.

We don try i beg.
Re: Jay-jay Okocha Released: By Bolton Wanderers FC! by bolaoni(m): 4:38pm On May 09, 2006
Is it how much we pay that matters?

How much do we make from this matches? Is there anybody that talks about that?

Oga when did we play $8,000 as match bonus? shocked

Is it the one we read on paper that never gets to the players' hands?

Who are you fronting for sef? Sambawa abi Galadima

grin grin grin grin grin

Thatz another thing. Who is the actor and who is the boss between those two Northerners? I don't know if Sambawa is right about his things or is it just me. Galadinma should have been the one to step down.
