We all know that Nigeria is a failed State. The economy is poor, the roads are bad, the entire nation is easily engulfed in violent protests over cartoons that insult the god of the Arabs e.t.c.

Well, what can we do to fix the problem. The underlying problem of Nigeria is that the people that inhabit the country were never meant to be together. And what is even more sad is that the solution to Nigerias problems is shown to us every time we look at the map of the country. Divide Nigeria into 3 semi-independant or fully independant nations. The country can easily be split into 3 by using the rivers. Once this is done, I think you will be hard pressed to find any Yoruba, Edo or other minority groups in the south-west that would not put in that extra 50 percent knowing that there is almost no possibility of the Malams in the North gaining anything significant from it.

For those of you that do not know how the Map of Nigeria looks like or what the Major ethnic groups are: http://www.uiowa.edu/~africart/toc/countries/Nigeria.html

By the same token though Deb, sweeping it under the rug isn't really going to help either.

You have to recognize the problems before you can fix it.

Though Afeni, segregation based on religion seems a bit backwards,

Not religion, ethnic homeland. However, those that take up residence in area other than their traditional homeland should still be allowed to stay.

Every country has one challenge or the other but Nigerians are so used to
broadcasting and magnifying their own problems.

The only thing we succeed in doing is to paint ourselves bad.

Nigerians do not need BROADCASTING and MAGNIFYING her own problems, CNN, BBC, FOXnews, etc are doing an excellent job of that right now.
We do not need to PAINT ourselves BAD, what with being the 2nd most corrupt nation on earth by transparency international, being among the world's 20 failed states,  how worse can our own paint get?

I agree with Afeni. I think we should split the country into three major autonomous regions, viz., Yoruba (Oduduwa nation), Hausa/Fulani (Arewa country), and Ibo (Igbo nation or whatever they want to call it).

Ajisafe, its good to see you are capable of understanding. Its a pitty that a lot of others are hellbent on preserving the madness created by the British.
