Kano Bombing: Lawmaker Warns Of Military Takeover
As the death toll in Kano bombings continue to rise, one of the senators representing Kano State, Kabiru Gaya has warned of a military takeover of government if solutions are not quickly found to the bloody terrorism ongoing in Nigeria.

Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya

He disclosed this while contributing at Wednesday’s Senate plenary on matters of urgent national importance.

Senator Gaya, a former Governor of Kano State said Nigeria has gradually become a failed state. He notes how school teachers and kids in Kano no longer attend schools, like their Borno state counterparts, for fear of being bombed by Boko haram.

Warning of dire consequences if solutions are not found to the intimidating bombings and terror attacks on Nigerians, the Senator feared that the country may drift apart.

Uche Chukwumerije, who jointly moved the motion with Senator Gaya also said about 100 to 120 persons had been confirmed dead in the Kano blast.

The senate also asked the Executive arm of government to diversify its approach to tackling the problem of insecurity in the country.

Raising a point of order in the chamber, Senator Chukwumerije condemned Monday’s bomb attack on a motor park in Kano pointing out that 80 percent of the victims were from a particular part of the country.

He also expressed concern over what he termed the perceived indifference of Kano state government to Monday’s bombing of the motor park.

He said it was sad that more than 24 hours after the destruction, the Kano state governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, had not seen it fit to pay a visit to the motor park.

Military take over of a region of the country since the FGN has displayed no capacity to tackle the menace....a situation that Nigeria as it is ceases to exist.

No qualms in so far as the military head of state will be an ihejirika or a similar name. Otherwise this is hogwash.

Let us wait and see...so sad to see people murdered so callously with the govt not being able to proactively prevent or respond effectively. While the Kano State govt has refused to issue any statement as regards the Sabon Gari bombing...either good or bad.

My man Ihejirika himself will be wary of stepping forward as a military head of state in the situation we are now. Coup is highly possible considering the way our President has lost it all. My 1 kobo advice for you start preparing for anything (as long as GEJ shows interest in 2015).

smartchoice: seems the north has a plan...

They have never hidden their plan to have Presidency back since the death of Yaradua. Nothing has changed much, only that its becoming easier for them because ''their main enemy'' has failed to build a strong defence with good people.

Is it a warning or a cue for military take over? What will the soldiers do that cannot be done today? If the current Commander in Chief is snoring on the job, can't he be impeached?

You should know, from day one. Have you seen or hear any Northern elite / leader ( senators, governors, Sultan, emir, leaders, etc) condemn Boko Haram? They are rather asking GEJ to grant them amnesty, imagine the madness.

We're watching closely, at least there wouldn't be assumptions this time. If the Zulus wouldn't find them, the Vultures will certainly do

Nigeria's constitution is foolproof, making change/impeachment difficult

It is sad these fools still think we are in the 70s. They have no clue what Nigeria is like today. I pity them because any move to take over government will mean the end of Nigeria, simple. They dont have the economic or numerical strength to lord it over us anymore.

Let the kharki boyz take over is better than what we have now and my advise for them is to hand over to south-south man but definitely not Ijaw man because that have fail even northern minorities and any one voting them will pay for his and i am for the lost of our ibo brothers in kano.

Egbon Reno. Cowards are always the first to sound war drums but also the first to run when the war starts. I like the way you drop your foolish rhymes.
Who are the ''us'' Mumu? Do you want people who don't eat of the Billion Naira food to fight for the 40-man laptop crew course. Your master hardly comes out into the open for public functions again and here you are (a nobody) boasting of strength. Abeg sit down work your Garri and plan what to do from 2015.

Can it be done?? Yes. But what will be the result?? In present day nigeria it will be very bloody and may result eventually to lengthy battle for supremacy.
I believe whoever could carry this out knows the fallout and knows it may not even succeed hence its not gonna happen. Its very easy now for everything to get out of control, even out of control of the military men.

if the military takes over, that would put the ibos in charge since it has been said that they now overrun the armed forces.

I expected this. GEJ should keep shuffling from foot to foot instead of taking concrete steps to crush the financiers of terrorism. That man is puzzy i tell you

No need for military
We have embraced democracy and The constitution has provision for dealing with a non performing president.

if thats Iheajirikas plan to get power, its Dead on arrival

We are not in 1966 where some people used flimsy excuses to topple a democratic govt and install their tribesmen in power
