Ok, I know you feel slighted because you're muslim...

Well, we can always have a hijab carnival with folks dressed up as ninjas - what do you think??

no. we can't always have that. Just when one thinks some people are grown ups tongue

Is their anything wrong with being original. Why do we have to copy West Indians in everything?

Actually it doesn't have anything to do with West Indians. The Brazilian returnees brought the carnival with them almost 200 years ago.

I love the Locomotion group. Maybe it's the female drummers doing it for me. I always find the sight of female drummers very sexy and alluring.

As usual the governor decided to walk into the arena from the gate that's farthest from the VIP stand. And as usual, the crowd went crazy when he walked in. People came down from the stands onto the arena floor and tried to mob the governor. The security guys had a difficult time trying to keep the crowd at bay. The crowd cheered and the governor waved back.

I was pleasantly surprised that the crowd applauded after the national anthem was played.

There were reminders of the bad old days of the 80s and 90s though. Some people tried to follow the governor into the VIP enclosure and the mobile policemen released a canister of tear-gas to send them back. I left the venue late in the evening, but someone who stayed back said that he left the venue when he started hearing gunshots. He had no idea who was shooting or what they were shooting at.

Otherwise it was fun all through, characterised by drinking, eating and dancing.
