The Sun Publishing Ltd, Tony Onyima, former Inspector General of Police, Mike Okiro, the Publisher of Champion Newspapers, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, former Speakers of House of Representatives, Salisu Buhari and Ghali Na’Abba, former Bauchi governor, Adamu Muazu, former works minister, Adeseye Ogunlewe, that of sports, Taofeek Adedoja, PDP chieftains, John Nwodo, Rufai Alkali and Tunde Akogun among others. Anyim said each University Governing Council shall also include the Vice-Chancellor; the Deputy Vice-Chancellor; and one person from the Federal Ministry of Education. Others include four persons appointed by the Senate from among its members; two persons appointed by the Congregation from among its members; and one person appointed by Convocation from among its members. The dates for the formal inauguration of the above Boards will be announced in due course by the Honourable Minister of Education.

Why should a "Toronto-famed", disgraced certificate forger be appointed into a university governing council? Recycling of Forgers, fraudsters, thieves and old cargos on University boards will only continue the rot in our university system! GEJ at his inept best!

Appointing someone with little regard for Educational Certificates, I mean a certificate forger into the board of one of Nigerian best Universities is a shame. And when we say this administration is clueless, they say we should not insult the president.

Guy, try not to bring sentiment into every thing. The appointment of Salisu Buhari into a governing council of a primary school is a even bad signal for Nigerian educational sector. For him to be appointed to a university governing council shows that GEJ is not serous at all. In case U are less that 14 years, you can ask anyone to take U back to 1999 and the TORONTO certificate scandal.

Panic grips technocrats in Jonathan’s cabinet

Ministers in the cabinet of President Goodluck Jonathan who are not card-carrying members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party are currently panic-stricken over a statement credited to the party’s National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.

Tukur was last week quoted as saying that henceforth, ministerial nominees who are not card-carrying members of the ruling party would be denied ministerial appointments.

Varsity board appointments shouldn't be politicized or reduced to dispensing political patronage for party faithful and sympathizers.

Names like Salisu Buhari, Adeseye Ogunlewe, Don Etiebet, Gloria Frazer, Tunde Akogun Fatima Rasaki et al shouldn't have appeared on the list if truly the primarily aim for their inclusion was altruistic, and not for political expediency.
