I agree. Just recently We visited my husbands colleague at home. His 6 year old boy was playing with his tablet his parents got him, the 2 1/2year old sister wanted it and took it from him. The boy left it for her, then he took his mums tablet and started playing with it, the girl saw that one and dropped the first one she took from him cos she wanted the one he had with him. The parents were like telling the boy to give it to her and a friend of ours interrupted them and was like ..."you's are spoiling this girl, she should not be allowed to take that one from her brother, the little girl was really crying but this ghanian friend of mine insisted that she wouldn't get that tablet and told her to go play with the first one she took from
Her brother.

She cried until she got tired of crying. They might have given her the tablet when we left but never when we were there. I think this friend of ours embarrassed them.

True, they think its okay cos she is just 2, but it is not. She knows when she cries she gets what she wants and she is playing on that. This Ghanaian woman said things to them that were true. Thanks Mac for d advice,and I totaly agree that these kids kno wat thyr doin,once my kid starts goin towards d electricity,he starts glancing in my direction to see my reaction,trying to work with talkin to him wth my eyes lik my mum used to do wth us as kids

Punishing?What happened to correcting?
Btw..kids are young adults,potential adults and as consequence,possess a mind of their own.
When a kid(boy,in this case) does something wrong,he knows it is wrong.Punishing him won't make him sober.It would spark up a mini-rebellion in him.He knows you can punish him now because he is a kid.He knows you can't when he is an adult.You don't break his spirit by punishing him,you build it.
Rebuke him.Make him see what he has done wrong.Talk sense into him.Make him feel sorry.Give him time to think about what he has done.He would see his wrongdoings,accept that he is wrong, and make changes himself.

Drop kicks, uppercuts, haymakers...the list is endless really

I don't even understand how some parents would even deem that attitude "cute".
Sounds like the same over-cuddly, anything-goes mindset in play when a mugu is toasting a fine girl who over abuses the knowledge of the fact.
They don't just understand that there are certain behaviors you should not allow a person to get used to, same applies to babies and adults.

The 'don't try it' look works like magic! My one year old loves picking things from the floor and putting into her mouth. Now once I give her that look, she just hands me the thing instead of putting it into her mouth. She also loves hitting people. I don't know what to do and I feel she is still young so I don't spank her.

Then tell the child to sit on air and hand's up, eyes closed and mouth open. That's if am not the baby daddy otherwise, u are on ur way back 2 ur father's house cox i wn't stand it.
