The Edo State Governor, Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor, has apologised to the Action Congress and its governorship candidate, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, for falsely accusing them of kidnapping the late Commissioner for Information, Mr. Calus Enoma.

In a statement in Benin on Friday, the Special Adviser to Osunbor on Communications and Public Relations, Mr. Tony Ikpasaja, said an earlier statement by the government which linked Oshiomhole and the AC to the commissioner’s disappearance did not reflect government’s official position on the matter. The apology and retraction of the statement came two days after Oshiomhole and AC asked for a public apology from government and threatened to sue for libel.

The government’s statement said the false charges against Oshiomhole and the AC might have been “made in the confusion occasioned by the sudden disappearance of the commissioner.” It said, “Government wishes to add that the statement was made without clearance from the governor at the time it was made. In any case, the appropriate person who would have cleared the statement on behalf of government was the missing commissioner who has since been found dead.

“Government considers it premature and extremely hasty to make conclusions as contained in the said statement when the police had not had the opportunity of investigating the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the commissioner and issuing a report thereon.

“Accordingly, government wishes to retract the said statement in its entirety. In addition, government hereby issues unreserved apology to the Action Congress and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for any embarrassment caused by the said statement. This is, however, without prejudice to the findings of the police pursuant to their investigation.

“Government is prepared to afford the law enforcement agencies a free hand in the investigation of the circumstances surrounding the mysterious disappearance and death of Enoma. Government will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those responsible for the perpetuation of this heinous act are brought to book.”

Osunbor is a confused person that lacks dignity likewise an outright loser. May the Almighty God deliver him cos he is loosing his senses as he will soon be ejected out of government house.

the act of an overzealous aide trying to curry favour though there is no way he would have gone public with such a blazen accusation without the go-ahead of his master.

thank God he saw the error and futility of his ways and apologised. End of story
