According to the French defense ministry, France has begun to withdraw troops from Mali.

About 100 of the 4,000 troops sent to the West African nation in January to battle Islamist militants have been withdrawn to Cyprus.

France hopes to reduce its troop presence by half when nationwide elections are due in July and have only 1000 soldiers left by the end of the year, handing over duties to the African force which currently numbers around 6,300 soldiers.

Do you think the French intervention has been successful in Mali?

The french are just having a piece of the action like her western counterparts US, Britain et al as seen from the cases of libya and now syria just to mention a few. Exposing the mayhem and catastrophe being masterminded and carried out on the African continent code name Africom. Funny how "terrorism" has shifted from the middle east down to Africa all in the name of re-colonising African resources and gaining a competitive advantage over emerging markets as china and co (BRICS) etc whom are investing heavily in the region. Through violent and man-made conflicts their agendas are put in place with the troubled terrorized regions begging for forgein assistance while they grab the opportunities to set up bases and stations to safe guard their interest. Only time would tell the next nation to fall into their selfish agendas.
