Dogs get jealous too you know. Especially when they have been treated like babies by their owners, then all of a sudden, attention is taken from them unto the new baby. It is a competition thing. Am sure in its mind it was eliminating its rival. I am stunned how anyone can give a pit bull free access to a baby or even let it come close to a baby. i fear that breed no be small. So big, strong and dangerous. They can crush bone like biscuit.

So yes pitbull looks scary, but if well trained....they are more homely than those Chiwawa (or however they are spelt as).

Nevertheless, a dog that has tasted raw blood and raw meat, in my opinion deserves to be put sleep. That is what those four dogs have gotten though. Shame the owner is not going to be held responsible in this case.

The owner of four dogs which savagely mauled a schoolgirl to death may not face any prosecution under the current legislation because the attack was on their property.

It is thought two Staffordshire bull terriers, a bull mastiff and an American bulldog went berserk when Jade Lomas-Anderson, 14, began eating a meat pie.

As they tried to grab the pie, they bit her throat and Jade, who was alone in the house, was unable to fight them off.

The son of the dog's owner last night wrote on Facebook: 'Can't believe that my mum's dogs killed a 15-year-old'.

This brought tears to my eyes. How does a parent cope with losing a precious child, worse in such a way? Apparently the teen girl was so savagely mauled, police had to restrain the mother from seeing what was left of her.

This is so, so sad. The fact the owner may get away with this makes me sick. My daughter likes dogs, but no way are we going to buy one.

May the gentle soul of the deceased girl Rest In Eternal Peace.

Regardless of number(s), dogs are like babies. You cannot stop taking your eyes and attention away from them. Constantly need to be monitored, fed, walked, instructed, loved and where needed beaten.

The only difference is that babies grow up. A dogwill forever be a dog. Some dogs I do agree should not be kept as pet except by professional dog handlers.

claremont: A well-trained dog can be an asset, and well-trained dogs have been used to save lives in both the military and civilian population. This incident, as unfortunate as it is, remains an isolated case in comparison with innumerable cases of dogs going the extra mile to save lives. Bomb-sniffing dogs have saved countless lives around the world, dogs have even been trained to provide emotional succour to the bereaved. The bottom-line is that dogs are more of an asset than a liability.

My point is that it is not entirely correct to blame an animal for expressing its innate trait. Human beings, as empathetic as we are, still go on mad killing sprees.
