Tech. Dir. Job: Amodu Rejects N3m Monthly Salary Offer by 2Mekus: 8:18pm On Apr 19, 2013
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is getting more than it bargained for in offering Shuaibu Amodu the post of Technical Director as the former Super Eagles coach has rejected a N3million per month salary offered to him.
Newswatch Sports can authoritatively reveal that the package offered Amodu included a car, accommodation and a cook/steward, but the Benue State born-coach refused to collect his appointment letter, insisting on a monthly take home pay of N6 million.
It was gathered that Amodu’s demand for N6 million monthly pay was premised on his argument that he cannot receive a remuneration lower than those under his supervision, including the chief coach of the national team, Stephen Keshi, who earns N5 million monthly.
According to our source, Amodu is accusing NFF of reneging from the understanding they reached in a meeting some weeks ago.
“His appointment letter is still there. He is not ready to accept the N3million per month. He is not pleased with the way NFF is treating the issue because that was not within what they discussed before he was announced for the post,” he said.
The leadership of the NFF, we gathered, is not disposed to paying Amodu a much higher salary and not ready to enter into another round of negotiation with him.
Meanwhile, Kashimawo Laloko who was appointed Assistant technical director (Youth) and James Peters, Assistant technical director (women) have picked their letters of appointment.
