Error Code P0335 And P0180 by jum33: 8:50am On Apr 25, 2013
Hello All,
I have issue in starting my car(Primera P11 144 1.8l engine)in the morning and i have to crank like 3 times before the engine will eventualy come to life e .
On scaning the car i got the following code p0335-Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction and p0180- Fuel Temperature Sensor 'A' Circuit Malfunction.
I have checked the CPS circuit and even replace the CPS but the issue still persist.
Please i need suggestion on wat else should i check because i always prefer performing my own initial DIY diagonotics before taking my car to mechanic .

The fuel pump is probably on its way out. I believe the fuel temperature sensor is in the fuel pump unit, and you are not likely to get it to buy solely. Again, are you sure that the CPS that you installed is of the same part number as the one you removed?

His main issue is from the CPS.
You either changed the wrong sensor or the sensor you installed is equally bad

I will recheck the CPS ,but when i google this cold starting issue associated with the error p0335 ,i discovered that stetched timimg chain can also be responsible for this model of car.Anybody with similar experience can share.

Yes a stretched timing chain/belt can be responsible although this but it would normally trigger the camshaft sensor code and not the crankshaft sensor.
The CPS you changed, where is it located in the engine?
What year is this primera?

The CPS is located at the back of the Engine ,cylinder block rear near the oil filter ,very trickish to locate.
The primera year is 2001.

Nissparts' enguiry on the location of the part you changed seems justified. The service manual describes the CPS to be located "on the transmission housing facing the gear teeth (cogs) of the flywheel or drive plate." I'm not sure if this fits the description of the location of the part you changed. You probably changed the knock sensor which the manual says is "attached to the cylinder block." Could we have a picture of what was changed? The CPS and knock sensor are markedly dissimilar in shape.
The CPS is also called Sensor Magnet by Nissan, and it is compatible with that in Sentra for the same period.

why mislead him when the codes point to the problem

replace the sensors and let us know of the result

possible cause from AUTO DATE 2009 are wiring, the sensor its self or ECU aka brain box

in most cases if the wires have never been tempered with and are good it is always the sensors

In what way has he been misled? One of the senors is associated with the fuel pump; and there is some doubt on the second sensor he changed. So what sensor do you want him to replace to "let us know the result"?
