These are the two Nigerian Air Force pilots who lost their lives serving the fatherland when their Alpha fighter jet crashed near Niamey on the way back from a reconnaissance mission. They have been named as Flying Officer Ayuba Joab Layelmenson, 25 and Squadron Leader Benjamin Bem Ado. Nigeria's chief of air staff Air Mashal Alex Badeh has already visited their families. Ayuba was from Gombe State, while Benjamin was from Benue State. Both men were part of the Nigerian contingent to Afisma, the West African military force fighting Islamic rebels in Mali. Their aircraft crashed near Dargol village, 60 kilometres west of Niamey in Niger Republic. May their souls rest in peace!
