whatsapp is better than bbm, i use both. file sharing is immediate on whatsapp and it delivers faster than bbm.

Whatsapp will also show u when a user was last online which bbm does not do.

The only thing Whatsapp doess better than BBM is the cross platform function, BBM is more clourfull, delivers all you mentioned better (IMO), and no one has developed a better chat platform till now.

Anyway, I think Blackberry knows BBM is the only thing spectacular about their phone ( Z10 is good but came late to the party)
Allowing BBM to become cross platform may be a wise bussiness decision because Whatsapp is the biggest chat platform world wide.

So, why not make the best available for everyone? This is sad news for whatsapp not blackberry. Blackberry is a distant 3rd, behind samsung and Iphone already.

We seems to be on the same plane of thought.
Heads- bbm is going to be the chat king across all OS platforms, Whatsapp owners might as well look for another line of business.
Tails- All BB running 6.0 OS down is going down the drain, because they aren't different from the mass market Nokias and Tecnos if you take out bbm.
Who will want to spend money on a smart phone that has no wifi tethering capability added to the shallow screen size of these BBs.
Another thing I forsee is that if this works out, expect a massive roll out of activating BIS on alternative devices from all networks. None of them will want to miss out on the windfall.

Wow, I guess RIM is quite desperate. They clearly want to do anything that will make them relevant. Truth be told, it may just as well shoot them in d foot. Bbm for me is one of the few reasons why I still own a blackberry today. And if I can still keep in touch with my peeps on bmm via other platforms, guess I might as well get another phone outside d bb family.

For those who have waited for this announcement before making the decision to ditch the blackberry platform and are only switching for the BBM thing, you still dont get the point. The point is that the Android platform has always and will always be able to provide more than enough functionality for you, so long as you are imaginative and creative enough. BBM is just an IM platform, there are a million of those on Android and IOS, i just keep being baffled when someone says "I like bb because of BBM" ....like seriously

Wonder why it took so long for RIM / Blackberry to cut their losses though?...
For those who think this means lower patronage and usage for Whatsapp, please ask yourself this..."Why would anyone leave Whatsapp for BBM".....Is there really a tangible reason? Seriously now...
