"Road Safety" The FRSC Way! by mexxy1(m): 9:11pm On May 14, 2013
I was driving this morning and saw officials of the FRSC going to their duty post without observing any safety regulation. On top of that, the driver was going at over 70km/hr so I could not get the snapshot I wanted (I was driving at that speed and sped ahead to enable me park & get a snapshot).
This happened today 14/05/2013 around the Petrochemical junction in Eleme, Rivers state & the FRSC officials are from the Eleme command. Mind you, this is not the first time I've seen them transport members of the corps in their van like this but I was able to get the shot I wanted today though not as much as I wanted (I wanted to snap the license plate so they can't deny).
My observations:
1. Driver and front passenger had seat belts on.
2. Four (4) members of the corps sitting precariously at the back of the van with no support.
3. Driver was going at over 70km/hr
Well, view the attached pictures and have your say...

The second picture is a cropped version of the same picture as I couldn't take more than one snapshot because of their speed.

Mexxy1, you are the man, i saw them and wanted to snap them too, but those C41 policemen parked me for search, so i couldn't get the shots. WELLDONE FOR THIS PICTURE.

U're welcome lonelydora. And to think that they will apprehend u for a similar or less offence leaves much to be desired.
I'm happy u saw them to corroborate my story and picture.

@ Dis Guy, I doubt they have all those requirements in the vehicle.

And, I caught them again yesterday... Meanwhile, these same FRSC officials fined me that my wife wasn't on seatbelt while seating on the front passenger seat late last year.

I don't see the problem here. Seems legit and you should be thankful.

Senator Ocholis family wasn't that lucky.

I was not on speed and always remind my front passenger's to belt up. However, I had just come out of a filling station and they stopped me after about 100 metres.

Most accidents happen a few miles from the start of the journey.

I maintain that you got a righteous citation and should be thankful.

PS: every person in your car, regardless of seating position, should be in a restraint system.

Not doubting you but, they should practice what they preach.

I care more about the life of a Nairalander and his family than a bunch of poverty ridden enforcement officers.

I tend to keep my nose clean and protect my family.

But I think we understand where we're both coming from. Drive safe.

"MAYFIELD VILLAGE, Ohio — May 6, 2002 —It has been said that home is where the heart is. Well, according to a survey by Progressive Insurance (NYSE: PGR), one of the largest auto insurance companies in the country, home is also where vehicle crashes are most likely to occur.

The survey found that 52 percent of reported crashes occurred five miles or less from home and a whopping 77 percent occurred fifteen miles or less from home.

This data is not typically gathered by law enforcement or insurance companies. As part of an ongoing claims satisfaction survey process, Progressive asked more than 11,000 people who reported a crash in 2001, how far from home they were when their accident occurred."
