While Samsung has finally dethroned Nokia as the Word's largest phone vendor, it may have to engage in another battle for dominance in Nigeria; a country with the biggest Africa Smartphone market and powering millions of active mobile lines. BusinessNews places the figure at over 110 million active telecom subscribers.

Nokia had earlier locked that region with the company selling overpriced phones but once Samsung introduced the Galaxy series running on the Android platform, it wasn't too long before a steep shift in the direction of Android smartphones became obvious and a subsequent decline in the overall market share of Nokia.

The South Korean company has not only dominated the Smartphone market share in Nigeria but it's TV series has also sold like hot-cakes. Now, the success story of Galaxy series has come under heavy treat by Tecno; a Chinese company which has been doing alot of things right in the last few years. Tecno's new brand of smartphones have attracted a vast majority of Nigerian youths who are finding the phones much more affordable and having specifications similar to the Samsung Galaxy series. One major boost and what has swayed alot of Nigerians to the Tecno brands is that the smartphones being produced also runs on the Android platfrom.

Tecno, while unveiling the P3 in Nigeria made a shocking revelation; the company was setting up a Plant in Nigeria, thus solidifying it presence in Africa's most populated country. The romance between the Chinese company and Nigeria can't get any better as the Plant would also provide jobs for thousands of unemployed Nigerians.

As part of efforts to further consolidate on it's foothood in Nigeria, Tecno signed a partnership deal with one of Nigeria's largest networks, and has paid off with thousands of Tecno smartphones arriving on the palms of Nigerians. Tecno which was once know for it's sub-standard phones in Nigeria have done a major job in re-branding the company and placing it at a position where it can effectively complete with any mobile phone vendor which has it's presence in Nigeria. Price ofcourse which happens to be very advantageous to Tecno will play a major role in determining who wins in the long run.

Yea!!! Techno is really trying considering their background and how they started in Nigeria. They are really giving Nokia and Samsung a run for their money in the Nigerian phone market. I think if they are to be rated, they will come above LG and others when it comes to phone and as regards acceptability and market share.

What kind of imbecilic article is written about smartphone dominance in Nigeria and does not mention Blackberry?

Like it or not, more Blackberry phones are sold in Nigeria than Samsung & Tecno phones.

Blackberry's popularity is likely to wane when BBM arrives on iOS and Android before September this year, but for a while now Blackberry has been top dog.

What do you expect? It is known that Nigerians like buying nonsense, I knew when China phones were the trend.

People leave reputable smart phone companies like Samsung, Apple. Nokia, Sony and instead chose techno, who the hell is techno?

TECNO!
When they first started, I told myself I would never have anything to do with them, I know I'm good at keeping to my promises, but right now, I find myself doing away from all my other phones cause of TECNO.

Note: I didn't say TECNO is the best, I'm saying TECNO is the cheapest, and not just the cheapest, but giving out the best at the cheapest price, hereby taking over the Nigerian smartphone market.

Conclusion: TECNO Is Winning The Smartphone War In Nigeria!

Don't blame the OEMs just because you don't have money. Their prices are reasonable. You get what you pay for...try comparing your tecno N3 to even the Galaxy S2 from 2011.

You better wake up. Who says Iphone, HTC arent made in China

Tecno has come to dominate Nigeria because of price advantage. I love the shape and size of N7 but prefer the features of F7. Just a juxtaposition. Thinking...
