[b]I’m Proud; So What? I’m An Artiste — Eedris•Says He’s Working On A Project With 50 Cent

Eedris Abdul-kareemThe history of hip-hop in Nigeria is incomplete without the contributions of Eedris Abdul-kareem. “I’m an elder statesman in the hip-hop music,” Eedris spoke with Weekend Ride recently on his sojourn to Ghana after his initial problem with a multinational three years ago on what was referred to then as a show of shame between him and the American Rap artiste, 50 Cent.

“I had problem with President Olusegun Obasanjo on my record, Nigeria jaga jaga but today, jaga jaga man don carry jaga jaga go. The king is back now because I have so many things to talk about. This prompted the release of my new 17-tracker album. What you are not, you can’t take. I gave birth to hip- hop music – whether anybody likes it or not. I went to fight for them and I’m back to take my position,” he declared

Going down memory lane on the actual cause of his problem with 50 Cent, he said, “His boys came to me inside the plane to ask me to vacate the seat I was occupying because the seat was meant for 50 Cent. I refused to vacate the seat. That was how the problem started. I was humiliated. Other artistes in the plane were watching them beating me. “And I said, ‘Guys, you are here looking at me, it could happen to anybody in the music industry in future.’

“Today, artistes are now enjoying the fruit of my struggle for the industry. The music industry needs to be regulated.” He continued: “Many people believe that I’m a strong-headed person, and I agree. I have pride, because I’m an artiste. Every artiste must have pride. The struggle is worth it. They are respecting us abroad now.” Eedris confirmed that he he suffered throughout the period he was abandoned by the corporate bodies , not having big concerts to attend; but he said it was worth it.

“I only suffered for two years. I’m from the North. They should never disrespect Nigerian artistes. I’m an icon of peace. Today, I don reconcile with 50 Cent and we are back together with a bang. Just watch out for my new project with him. “My new album, The King Is Back, is a revelation on many things that affect our social life and the entity called Nigeria. “You remember that Obasanjo once abused me and said, ‘Eedris, your mother, father and family na jaga jaga. Today, I have been vindicated. I love Yar’Adua and I’m ready to work to make him succeed.

“Once in the lifetime of a people, a sterling and unique opportunity presents itself begging to be tapped and appropriated. If such a people are imbued with deep insight and sense of discernment, they usually grab such an opportunity with both hands and coast home, fulfilled and enabled. “If on the other hand, they fail to realise and appreciate what has come their way and overlook, reject such an opportunity, their subsequent enterprises become polluted by that regrettable loss,” he concluded.

this post is old na what is the project with 50c? welcome to nigeria?
I will not say he is nobody i have to respect the new school pioneers and he is one of them but is Eedris really the king? To me he is no where near the front lines when it comes to rap or hip hop either ways eedris is far from been king.
It is one thing to be a pioneer and another thing which is hard work to be on top or be a king if we never knew eedris back in the days how many people for buy he album and he dey call him self King, i bought his album just to find out what he has to say and i don hear wetin he get to say and man i go say this album is flop

im sure he prolly means a proper project because that welcome to nigeria cant be called a project and he wouldnt insult his fans like that, having said that dont take the whole king thing like that its a normal thing for any artiste to claim it and then wait for challengers, for eedris he is very good and apart from that the controversy will sell his records, the likes of p-diddy,50 versus kanye west tu pac e.t.c
you r the one that never knew eedris back in the day,i wasnt in nigeria all through his jagagjaga song and from the part where i live o i know eedris is known here and he is known in nigeria as well,

It is customary in music to claim titles. Ruggedman claims he is the pillar of Nigerian hip-hop then, Eedris Abdulkareem declairing himself as the King should not be seen as arogance. To me he is truly the King and he is back for good.

Would like to see a recent interview with Eedris on his pain out of Nigeria?
Look out for the next edition of The Lyrics Mag Int'l. Meanwhile, the current edition feature the 'Lagi mo' guys, Rooftop MCs. Are they into gospel or hiphop?
The answer is in the Edition 4 of The Lyrics Mag Int'l. Ask your vendor for a copy.

lol,see you making grammartical errors again, we are all "small pikin"as you call it you know,if u r 40 years old,to your parents you r still a child,if your 20,30 yrs old you r still a child so you can see calling someone small pikin is a relative thing, unless you are as old as methuselah then u can say you r not a "small pikin"capische?

You are insane ooh i think dready is right for calling you a kid and i guess what she meant is that you reason like a kid and that you ain't matured
is your dad that is spoiling you imagine what you are saying you've got your dad's bar to spend i am way young but i know when i started hustling for myself at my age i am a millionaire my own money not my parents so when i say A i know what i saying coz i think before i say or do, so leave your comfort zone and strive for the best ,
to me you don't act arrogant but try to be matured inside you coz the day your dad's money will fail you, you will not believe as the grammatic blunder i think its because she does not read her sentences well before she clicks to reply, you tell me if you've never made any error here.

now that u r feeln better and calmed down, she said you be small pikin which means you are a small child abi, also she said i was jobless and seeing that its true i said yes she is right, also i never said my dad is this or that all i said was that my dad is taking care of that so that some ppl will not get the wrong idea.
if i said i was jobless and u see me able to afford to pay for internet, wont you think i was doing yahoo yahooo or 419 or drugs?thats why i clarified
now what sin have i committed in spending my father's "bar" as you put it, spoiling me ke lol abeg stop thinking old fashioned go and tell atiku or ibb s children that they are being spoilt,u think im in this country on holidays?im here to study and im gettn good grades so where is the spoiling?
im happy for you and hope your millions will grow to billions, dnt forget to chop the contracts in abuja too o,as for my comfort zone, thanks but im very ok in my zone and trust me my short and long term plans are taken care of winkif you think im arrogant then its your opinion now and you r entitled to it but the person your fighting tooth and nail for we r actually cool so pls lady/girl take a chill pill

how dyu know im not a millionaire too,you dont know me now?or what s giving you the feeling that you r richer than me as a person because i said my dads taking care of that?ill leave that because this is not a forum for all that,i dont take most stuffs on here serious and thats why ill rather yank her chain by the grammar thing than insult her in return and im glad she saw the humour in it too so once agan abeg chill out,im not arrogant im only telling the truth smiley

I heard from a friend that Eedris was at AIT on Saturday, May 10, 2008.  The guy told me something about him (Eedris) going to show in Dubai or something like that. I did not watch the interview if anybody watched it, I would like to know how true this is (not that I don't trust my friend, but just curious to know more details).
