Please who knows what is happening to EFCC. Is the anti-corruption organization dead or sick?

If we agree that corruption is a major problem in Nigeria then the frontline anti-corruption agency should neither be tottering or sleepy?

It was his activities at the EFCC that threw hitherto obscure Nuhu Ribadu into local and international limelight. In fact, he rode on the back of that popularity (or call it notoriety) to contest the last presidential elections.

Ribadu's successor, Mrs Farida Waziri, was also not altogether quiet or inactive especially during the trial of the bank chiefs. The woman was contoversial but not passive.

However, Waziri's successor - honestly, I can't even recall his name - has been passive and placid. Does it mean there is nobody to be tried? Out of all the over 70 governors, over 100 ministers, over 1,000 local government chairmen, countless former commissioners and heads of parastatals? Are they all under immunity?

Is the present comatose state of the EFCC a deliberate policy of the present administration of the man heading it is just a misfit? Why can't the man be removed if he is a round peg in a square whole and this administration is serious about fighting corruption?

Is this how we would fold our arms until corruption runs Nigeria aground?

So, please who knows what's happening to EFCC?

Prof Corruption:

and perhaps buried!

This is so sad and does not augur well for the citizens of this country.

Is the case with Nigeria such that we take one step forward and ten backwards?

Does it mean there's nothing the prersent government can do to revive (in a vigorous manner) the fight against the monster called corruption? Or does it mean that's how the present government wants it?

gboss4sure: They have never been effective thats why they are going down. No one even hears about them this days.

The once fearful EFCC is comatose. ICPC is fast asleep. Code of Conduct Bureau is inactive.

What's happening. Yet all these agencies continue to spend money without results?

EFCC is overwhelmed by corruption, because we have a formidable criminal elite controlling the politics and economy of this nation!

Why is the Senate Committee on Drugs, Narcotics, and Anticorruption silent on this unprecedented ineptitude of EFCC?

The silence is criminal.

Corruption is the root of many evil problems in Nigeria including Boko Haram!

take dat: EFCC is overwhelmed by corruption, because we have a formidable criminal elite controlling the politics and economy of this nation!

Formidable indeed. They should simply shut down EFCC then. If they did, it would save taxpayers at least N11billion per annum.

Mr Ibrahim Lamorde, what's happening to the once visible EFCC under your 'able' Chairmanship?

Have you been compromised?

Have you bveen muzzled?

Interestingly, you worked directly with Mr Nuhu Ribadu in the hey days of the Commission. Why are you now so inept, obscure and lethargic?

Is corruption no longer a problem in Nigeria with President Jonathan in the saddle? The fight against corruption has unarguably been pushed to the back.

Re: What's Happening To EFCC? by bknight: 11:20am On Jun 25, 2013
If I am not mistaken, EFCC is directly under the presidency. So the effectiveness/ineffectiveness of that agency is directly proportional to the will of the incumbent to fight corruption.

simple thing get international company to be our EFCC i know it sound bad but if a nigerian is still in charge then it's same old story one day they will bend, but get private agency from maybe U.K let the Gov pay them for one yr and fish out bad people and watch how some politician will go to jail, the court will need to be international court and the jail need to be outside of naija this is my own take about EFCC

Re: What's Happening To EFCC? by Nobody: 11:21am On Jun 25, 2013
The 'docility' of the EFCC can't be the sole responsibility of one man. I believe the body has offices in the 6 geo-political zones of the federation. Therefore, individuals in each zone can petition their local EFCC office, or the officials in those zonal offices can launch prosecutions against any accused person(s).
This mentality of an all-powerful Oga at the top has to end in Nigeria, nay Africa. The strengthening of our public institutions has to be the priority.
