THE INHUMANE TREATMENT OF ECOBANK NIG STAFF BY ITS MANAGEMENT

It has come to our notice that the management team of Eco Bank Nig Plc for upward of 2 years have decided to treat its staff like slaves. They make the staffs work till very late from Monday to Friday, and compel them to be at work on most saturdays and sundays. Please in God's name who is the Group head Operations of the Bank, who ever you are, this is not being productive or getting the best from your staffs. you compel staffs to be at there desks on saturday and sunday under the disguise of

it must be noted that Eco Bank Nig is not the only bank that either acquired of merged with another bank, how come years after staffs of the bank are still compelled to go to work on saturday and sunday.
All i would like to know is if Eco Bank Nig were to be paying its staff on hourly basis, would this be happening? embarassed embarassed embarassed embarassed embarassed embarassed

@OP Do you work at Eco-Bank? Are you saying every department works weekends? Including cleaners?

If not, why do you want to "take panadol for another man's headache" as someone would say?

And What's the point of this thread? So the Nigerian Citizens stage a protest against the said bank?

These people know what they signed up for and if they can't handle it, they are always other options. Rather than concern yourself with what your government should do for it's citizens, you're bothering yourself with the working hours of a firm.

just as confused as the op, or should I say more confused than the op.

.
If the op knew the answer to his question I don't think he would have opened this thread.

While this issue is not limited to EcoBank alone,it is a disturbing trend that needs to be checked before it spreads other sectors. There are very few banks today that will not find one reason or the other to make their staff work Saturdays and Sundays aside from closing at odd hours, and God help you if you are later than 7am on weekdays. I wonder why nobody is taking them up on such abuse of workers rights. sad

Stop chatting nonsense....
If anyone is not happy, they have options, it is not by force
Do you know what is in the contract anyone affected signed in the first place?
If they signed to work at anytime they are needed, then you guys don't have a case...

Op, my observation so far is that those feeling the heat most are the staff working in the branches formerly owned by the absorbed oceanic bank. While in existence, Oceanic bank expanded impressively giving most Nigerians the impression that the bank was financially strong(to a lame man, having many branches means you're strong financially). As a result, this bank ended up having a large customer base. I used to be depressed when there was need to carry out transactions in that bank because of long queues. To the staff, they always have to cope with the pressure of attending to these numerous customers. The situation is still the same even after the acquisition. There counterparts in the original Ecobank branches don't face such pressure.(I'm not saying they don't at all) I have been to several Original Ecobank branches and Oceanic-turn-Ecobank branches before...I always study their mood. So, maybe those complaining to the OP are the ones working in the stressful branches.
