SONGS OF BITTERNESS

(Collection of Poems (elegies) in honour of 10 traders who were killed by the deadly Boko Haram Sect members)
Ibadan Book Club in conjunction with the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (Oyo State Chapter) are calling for submissions in form of Elegy in honour and memory of those 10 Traders namely: Seye Adegboyega, Jelili Popoopa, Ojo Mosobalaje, Fatai Kareem, Femi Oyetunde, Ninalowo Saheed, Saburu lanlehin, Lekan Oladokun, Sola Adeoye and Nurudeen Lawal who were beans sellers, went to Borno State – the heart of the sect’s insurgency – to buy beans for sale in Ibadan when they ran into an ambush by the deadly Boko Haram sect members. They were killed in a most gruesome manner. May their gentle souls rest in perfect peace, Amen.

Note: Only Young Writers residing in Oyo State are eligible to enter for this Anthology.

SUBMISSION RULES

• Language Medium – English & Yoruba
• Poems – 30 to 50 lines
• Entrants should include the followings alongside their works, age, location, telephone number. A sentence of not more than 500 words describing the work, short profile, where you heard about the call for entries.
• Permission to publish your work among the shortlisted entries.
• All entries must be submitted by August 04, 2013.
• Any signs of plagiarism will disqualify the contestant.
