A guy came to me and was telling me about a girl who he said has been his close friend for a very long time. The problem now is that he is falling in love with this girl who he calls his best friend.

I told him with all sincerity that i see nothing wrong in it. But he should however consider the following issues...
1. Is there any sign that the girl is in love with him too because if not, it will amount to betrayal of friendship.

2. If he value there friendship telling the girl that he wants more friendship from her may jeopardize their friendship.

3. I told him to be sure what he feel is note infatuation and lust. Because if it is, it will be just a matter of time before the relationship and friendship collapse. Finding a best friend to trust and rely on is not easy to come by.

4. I also asked him if he can look the girl to her face and tell her he is having a romantic feelings for her.

5. I made him understand that for him to take the girl as his best friend, then they must have shared a lot of secrets with each other. Meaning that the girl has a lot of information about him and he also knows much about the girl. Will the things they know about each other have a positive or negative impact on their dating relationship if it eventually kicks off.

Some may say can a man and a woman be just friends? well in my own opinion the answer is yes because i have experienced and seen it before.

@op, when this kind of issue comes up, it takes a lot of maturity and value for their friendship to not crumble all of it together. The easy way out is dt she feels the same way about him. If not, this might be the beginning of the end for dt friendship. Even if he doesn't tell her his mind, he'll start acting awkward. Suppressed feelings is not fun, i tell ya. If the lady does not feel the same way about him, he should just take that friendship as over, except the lady is one of the few matured ones out there.
