Pics like this make me think of how insignificant man is in God's eyes. Indeed what is man that God should think of him. Yet no matter how tiny all mankind put together is, God still loves us and takes care of us. I am indeed humbled when I think of God's greatness.

I tire o! I can't even see the water bodies (70% of the earth's surface is water!)

NB: You are actually seeing the reflection of the sun's light on the earth and moon.

Yeah, last I heard (read), the guys at NASA were deliberating on ways to access the mass of 'water' under the ice cover which proves to be many meters thicks. They where thinking of sending a 3-phase rocket carrying a payload that will blast through a significant layer of the ice, then a drill would bore the hole (2nd phase) for the scientific equipment (3rd phase) to be released into the water to do its job. Whichever works for them, I hope they get to do it soon.
yeah.. They'll probably send a more tech robot(compared to the one that surveyed Mars).. With time, they'll succeed,, technology improves with time u know

Ol boy!!

If earth, with 7 billion people are but a dot, then you suddenly wonder what you are.
So Obama dey inside that dot. And Jonathan. And that big building that I saw in Dubai.
And all of China. And all of Bill gates money.

And someone said that there is no God. Like seriously, God is too big for us to comprehend. Bigger than religion, bigger than our little minds can fathom. Big.

So we are not even dots, we live in one massive place that is all but a dot. Kai!! Wetin we come be.

Galaxy is a collection of stars of which could contain about 100 billion of stars.

Planet earth is in the galaxy called the milkyway

and there are hundreds of billions of other galaxies.. with trillions of other suns.. we can see them but can never reach them...there is no how there aren't other beings..

No I don't have to recourse to google to oppose an idea which I have opposed forever. However, as you have apparently chosen to insult me just to prove your god's existence, I will let my e-ink dry off on this our brief encounter.

Good luck.

riloxy: wow! God is great...He is incomparable.

What god is great?
That picture show the insignificance of planet earth ,her inhabitants and all their gods in the universe.
If earth should disappear today ,nobody would notice.
There are more stars like our sun in the universe than there are grains of sand on earth.
Those stars harbour planets like Jupiter ,mars,Venus ,earth etc
We are definitely not alone .
The laws of science and probability says so.

Nickydrake: Photos like these make one feel rather insignificant; first as a Species, and then, even more pointedly, as an individual.

Quite the other way, it shows how significant the human species are for probing deep space and boosts my self-confidence since I more fully appreciate the hand of God as it crafts our universe.

Thats how they are... The moment you engage in a simple descent argument regarding the existence of their God theyll put you on a stake, set fire on you and watch you burn... I just cant wait for the day we'll meet extraterrestrial beings then we can all accept in shame that we were played all along.

if this is earth from one billion miles away, how will it look like from outside our solar system and maybe a trillion miles away (definitely non existent)

You have not been able to establish the existence of your God, you are talking about his greatness. Believe what you may, but come on! do you have to yap about your religious beliefs on every thread? God is this and God is that! The point is, respect other people's views and beliefs when you comment. Stop pushing your God on everybody period.

Can you imagine that you believe in extraterrestrial beings existence even when you have never seen one before, but you find it difficult to believe in God and easier for you to look at all the beautiful design of flowers, trees, mountains and even you was by accident. Have you imagine your digestive system: how your food eventually turn into your body and still think nobody design that, you are able to read this and interpret it in your brain without a designer. Can you imagine how many software program and memory space it will take a computer to do that which you do effortlessly. The Bible calls you a fool, and I cant describe you better. Read Isaiah 40:13-18 with emphasis on vs 17.You will see the way the earth is to God.
Though to your knowledge, the bible never says there is no extraterrestrial beings, rather says everyone is subject to name of Jesus to the Glory of God. Philipians 2:10. Of things in heavens(plural), on earth and under the earth.

Absolutely! But the great mystery is we all form part of the great cosmic stream of which God is part of it too. So while we may appear so small and far from the Father he is ever so close to us.

That's right. This thread is an astronomical picture that helps us appreciate the size of the earth relative to other objects in the solar system. Saturn pears as a small dot from he earth too.

This is not about the existence of god or not. After all all beliefs about gods and spirits are faith based.

xynerise: Where are earth's other brothers?

The cameras in the satellites orbiting Saturn's moon were focussed to snap photos of earth and the moon. That's why the other planets in the solar system were not in the photo. With a sophisticated telescope on earth you could also take similar photos of saturn on earth's orbit .

The second picture shows part of saturn's giant rings and the earth because it was snapped close to Saturn, one of the giant gaseous planets in the solar system that rotates north to south in a tipsy-turfy manner with spectacular rings made up of dust, icy rocks and debris that glows beautifully.

Yes! And do you know that the God that created the material universe and us and all matter is a subordinate deity to the Father of Jesus Christ, who is unnameable, immeasurable, incorruptible who manifested the greater spiritual worlds and the deity who created the material universe?

gbadexy: What strike ♍ƺ is the white luminous color of the earth and slightly duller color of the moon both reflecting the sun.
So how planet would look like a dot of star amongst countless stars when looked from just another planet.
Who really knows how many of the dots are stars and how many are huge not so far planets.

A telescope and a star atlas will help you know which dot is a star or planet. Planets also change position in the sky as they revolve round the sun, while stars are more relatively fixed.

kj_hova: This images from Saturn sends ideas raging in my cranium.
Regular inter planetary travel is very likely within the next 50 to 100 years. The 3 main challenges to surmount are;
Fuel - Nuclear fission has already been used to more than half the time required for Curiosity to travel to Mars. further development in this area or maybe a whole new discovery could considerably reduce travel time across our solar system.
Toxic atmosphere of space - Following the example of a permanently inhabited International Space Station orbiting around Earth, it is technically possible to install inhabited stations or bases on every planet in our system. We only need to solve the small matter of oxygen supply, artificial gravity, communication with Earth and a bit more.
Cost/benefits: - Vast deposits of oils, minerals, metals, rocks & gases exists in many parts of our solar system. Soon very soon, a new space age set of explorers in the order of Mungo park, Marco Polo, Cecil Rhodes et al will march into these frontiers to create commercial activity around these resources. Then shall man become an inter-planetary being at least, if not yet inter-stellar!

Great! Lets start with lunar(moon) tourism first. This is less than four days journey before we think of interplanetary tourism.
