Sometimes you people underrate Nairaland.
Nairaland has more content than all the leading daily newspapers since 2005 to date and mentioning Nairaland is a plus for them.

I use BlackBerry not because I like it far From that but I just haven't found a legal way to do without their cheap internet service that is way I'm stuck with the device. So stop complaining and go get your BB from RIM.
I'd ♈όϋ keep waiting for NCC my friend "♈όϋ go old for bus stop"

This is the short time solution for subscribtion on Andriod and iphones. When next you want to subscribe, remove your sim,fix it in a blackberry and subscribe for your normal BIS. Remove back your sim and insert it in your andriod or iphone and enjoy everything that you normally enjoy spending a lot of money to. I use that and it has been working for me.

The NCC should be scrapped. Corruption do not make them to carry out their functions properly. This is something they can control because it relates to a network problem

Foolish NCC man ...so if the provision of Internet Access is not a regulatory issue, why force people register their Internet Mobile Broadband dongles etc? Are the telecom operators not using a channel licenced by them for perpetrating all these nonsense? Are they saying that Blackberry Services is unlicenced in the country? Meaning that anyone can decide to use the Mobile networks to perpetrate crime and they would sidon look becos it has nothing to do with Voice calls or its a different technology?

SMH now I see one of those things that is keeping this country way behind!

Yomii: NCC are our major problem in this country. How can they say thier is nothing they can do about it? Arrant Nonsense. Were they not the one who told Mtn telecom services to stop all 0,10k per sec call rate most especially on ipulse and supersaver; now Super savers plan charge 15k per sec to all network. I think we need to do something about this unscrupoulous elements distarbilising the network of our country call NCC.
As for Me, I've migrated to airtell by dialing (*230#) and enjoy call to airtell @.090k/ sec to other NEtworks @.10k/ sec

venorite: Some Nigerians who make use of Android phones and Java operating devices have taken to social media to protest against what they call ‘exorbitant’ cost of Internet subscription being charged by telecoms firms.

Also part of the protest are those who use smart devices such as i-Phone and Windows phone.

They alleged that they are not getting value on their subscription plans, compared to users of BlackBerry phones in terms of data allowance and prices.

The users who besieged various social networking sites urged the Nigerian Communications Commission to prevail on telecoms firms to address the issue, so that they can begin to enjoy same benefits BlackBerry users enjoy on their platforms.

To register their displeasure, some subscribers have launched an online petition on change.org. The petition is titled “Telecoms Service Provider in Nigeria: All Data Users Demand Fairness.’’

The petition, which has attracted 40 signatures, reads, “The Nigerian youths are crying out loud. We need a better data plan for Internet access on our smartphones. The present data plans are too expensive compared to the bandwidth.’’

The petitioners have also tweeted their complaints to the handles of the various telecoms firms as well as the NCC. The hashtag #AllDataUsersDemandsFairness has also been employed by the subscribers to register their protest on the social network.

Writing on the Facebook wall of the NCC, one Ugochukwu Samuel argues that the situation where he gets between 200 and 350 megabytes for N1,000, while those on Blackberry get between 1 and 3 gigabyte for N1,000, is “unfair.’’

He states, “As a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to express my right by urging the Nigerian Communications Commission to see to the review of the data cap attached to the subscription of data on smart phones such as Android, IOS and Windows by our network providers.

“I demand a fair data plan. In comparison to the Blackberry plan, which is considered slightly affordable, subscribers on Android get between 200 and 350MB for N1,000 while those on Blackberry get between 1 and 3GB for N1,000.

“We wish that prices for data are made more affordable for Nigerian youths who rely on the Internet for resources which are not easily available within our society. In solidarity with other youths fighting for this cause, we shall continue to lament and express our desires until we get a positive intervention.”

Also reacting on Facebook, one Musa Rasheed writes, “We need a fair data plan for Android devices. These telecoms firms are charging just too much for nothing. Paying N1,000 for just 260MB worth of data is unfair. Other countries get better deals. NCC, please come to our aid. We’ve suffered too much in silence. Now we are tired.’’

A member of the online forum, nairaland.com, with the name, My Hobbies, urged telecoms firms to provide them with a similar package BlackBerry that users enjoy on their platforms, which allow them to get a fair value for their money.

“Android phone users are not happy with what our local telecoms firms are doing to us. We the Android phone users should be given a special package like that of BlackBerry plans. The current system, where they make us subscribe to MB worth of N1,000 and above, and they give us between 200MB, and 250MB is not fair at all. We all know how Android can drain megabytes. NCC, please, do something,’’ he adds.

When our correspondent contacted the Director, Public Affairs, NCC, Mr. Tony Ojobo, he said there was nothing the agency could do about it, because it was not a regulatory issue.

He said, “We (NCC) don’t regulate technology. BlackBerry is a peculiar service different from other platforms. NCC doesn’t provide Internet services and the enquiry is not a regulatory issue.’’

My brethren here, pls read!

To my fellow youth, compatriot Nigerians-
I greet you all with honour.Almost
everyone, if not everyone wants this
nation to move forward and if she should
move forward then definitely we are the
one moving forward and if otherwise we
know, we are the one involved. Not
forgetting that some of us are not born
with silver spoons it is only few of us that
can boast of that and considerable few
are born with no spoon at all, so this
'super story' I'm about to write does not
bother-so to say-all of us, that even some
are tired of hearing it would be an
understatement .
In order to prevent sounding silly here let
me tell you the title of the 'super story' it
is simply 'Fair and Just data campaign'...
oh! is that an eyebrow raised? no i could
hear that long hiss, 'mtcheeewwwwwww'
accompanies by 'old story'
Likewise I won't fail to acknowledge the
one that says to himself 'this guy surely
doesn't have something tangible to do
with his time, all this texts because of a
thing that would not materialize'.You are
all welcome!
But please don't press the back button
yet, we can run mind together here.
I would like to make it clear that this
campaign it's not fighting against bb
users,it is just calling for justice, it is
supporting all data users and fighting
against injustice on the pact of Internets
browsing regardless of the platform.This
is where someone laughs and say 'how
long will it take then to realize they are
wasting their time' well I won't say he's
being pessimistic,it's just an opinion but I
believe nothing is impossible and when
impossible becomes possible people tend
to call it miracle.
#1500 for 2gig,is it fair?
#1200 for 3gig,how fair is that?
those are examples of bis from two
different networks
#1000 for 200mb,do you say it's fair?
that's an example for all other platforms.
of course,a voice will say loud and clear,
'then go and get a BlackBerry now, is it
by force one uses Android or I phone? '
then answer is no, it is not an hobson's
choice for anyone to use any of the
platforms because we all have choices to
make.we today's bb users were once a
Java user or Symbian user in one way or
the other apart from those that started
their phone journeys with BlackBerry and
now with the arrival of aos,ios and
windows that means there are a lot of
choices to choose from. This is more like
saying, not long ago, there's nothing like
data plan let alone subscriptions,we used
our money-#2, I recalled, per page on
one of our dearest network-but there
seems to be changes or lil improvement
now I think?!
With that I just want to make it clearer
now that no discriminations whatsoever
but limitations to justice. Before we all
forget the advent of this telcos,i
remember then how we buy SIM cards
for exorbitant rate,in thousands, even
more expensives than most phones and
people still queued to buy it then, that
even when you buy phone people ask
you,do you now own a SIM? Not knowing
that SIM card is free. I wonder if NCC has
ever been established then or maybe it
wasn't a regulatory issue.Thank God for
our local telco who at least reduced it.We
shouldn't have forgotten as well, when we
call per minute billings. What is now the
point boy? someone would ask, well the
point is,using SIM as an example now, if
someone who couldn't or found it difficult
to afford a SIM card then could now boast
of having 5sim cards and even
commanding more at the snap of a finger
now,is it that economy has favour us?
NO...we bought it at high price before
because of our ignorance not that the
cost of making the SIM is that high, we
were basically cheated.
Now the questions on the pressing issue
are, couldn't the Internet subscription be
cheaper than this?
why can't we enjoy #500 for 3gig and #
1000 unlimited plan valid for a month?
could data be so high compares to the
Bandwith just because our highest
currency is #1000 so they think
everything must start from 1000naira to
save the stress of looking for change?
Sorry of, i heard server now or is it RIM I
heard? Whatever dude,i don't know
anything about that but what i wouldn't
know again is,if you for example now
using bb want to download a file maybe
an e-book worths 20mb and me using aos
want to download the same file from the
same website,would server compress
your own, because you are using bb?
maybe there's something I'm missing.
Finally compatriots,i won't say wise up
because many are wiser than me
here...what am i even saying? I'm still in
year one, just lil above 20,what did I
know? what experience have i had? But
and but justice remains justice regardless
of whatever and I believe one thing like
someone said if Bulb had not created
bulb someone else would have surely
done that and the like can be said here, if
revolutions would not start in our
generations,it would start with another.
it's happening everywhere 'naija'
shouldn't be an exception.
To add; I'm not writing this because I'm
an internet addict or something but
because I'm a fan of revolution.Certainly
this is not the only issue bothering the
youth in the country, it's just One of
them, and subsequently with one mind
we can get there and achieve greatness!
I hereby end my 'super story ' for
now,thanks for reading!
GOD BLESS NIGERIA!

sorry I didn't add that we shouldn't
expect GEJ to do anything about this and
since NCC has made it known to us that
they are about 'tarrifs regulation' alone...
How about our dear telcos? aren't we
supposed to be customers? If
yes,Customer is always right i think.
Definitely we have the right to say this is
what we want.
My dearies, please stand up and claim
what belongs to us...together we can
make it not with devided minds.
Let's clear our minds from all
impossibilities and endeavour to sign this
petition.

ALL DATA USERS DEMAND
FAIRNESS...

Is this what globalization be all about,
when we all living in doubt?
Is it time to act out or blot out?
Should the below average Nigerian
start to cry or learn to try?
Nigeria took a giant leap forward
when GSM (Global System of Mobile
Communication) came to stay
Hurray!!!

But with the unfair billing of the
internet service, the forward leap
seemed backward and dismay
No way!!
For so long we have sat in silence
hoping the Leaders see beyond their
pot
belles and self interest

No more will the youths hope for a
change we can effect with less stress
This is the pedestal which we stand on
and yell out
ALL DATA USERS DEMAND FAIRNESS
If you ask me, I really don't know the
usefulness of NCC
If they can't see
If this is not a regulatory issue
Then why the change of data plans
and prices like used tissues
How hard can it be to demand
customer satisfaction?
Give us internet service that going to
serve a nation
For what it is now is yet another form
of extortion
Spread it out in equal proportion
Let the below average Nigerian be
opportuned to the right informations
Need I tell you the internet is gold to
students?
So why act a nuisance?
You claim to be nationwide, with
crappy services
Yet you expect us to pay for little or
no internet services
You came up with different data
plans, hoping we won't see your plans
iWeak!!
We pay Nairas for Gigabytes data plan
that won't last a week
Even if you are everywhere I go, you
aint giving me what I need
Why won't I be oliver twist and ask
for more?

Why restrict my will to stay informed
or to explore the nation's ideologies?
Is this not what this growth is for?
This is me saying, on behalf of all who
is ready for the fight
ALL DATA USERS DEMAND FAIRNESS
This aint no collect call
Its more like a data call
To Nigerians, let this be a clarion call
If we trying to get internet to schools
Why not make your data plans
reasonable
Let our children be enabled
We strive to be like other
technologically developed countries
So let technology have a root so deep
it develops our economy.
I aint H A P P Y
Where is my H S P A +?
Why rant and bant about 3G or 4G
internet service?
When you deliver even crappy GPRS
internet service
If technology is the order of the day
I see no reason why its hard to deliver
good customer services
We don't need unnecessary data
plans
We just want it fair enough even for
the under priveledge
Let serving the customer better, be
your pledge.
As I put my pen to rest
As this paper bleed to the next
I hope I have brought to light the
mind of the rest

I pray there be a better data plan to
get this to all corners of this
country.

ALL DATA USERS DEMAND FAIRNESS

No Bleaching!!!!!!!!!
