Damn...my back hurts! angry angry angry Has or is anyone who architects/builds/develops software for a living experiencing back pain?

Yesterday and today especially I noticed my back kinda hurts!

I have a very comfy office desk and chair with everything state of the art but I think my chair at home is crappy, it is a regular chair with which I support my back with a pillow but it is not working!

I spend hours at times doing my thing and I have decided tomorrow, I am going hunting for the most comfy, ergonomic chair I can find on the market!

In fact, a new computer desk, any ideas?

Is anyone experiencing something similar?

Nope. Never experienced such. After spending some hours on the table, I always switch to using my bed (with a pillow as back rest), then to using only chair with my laptop on my laps. The cycle goes on.

Can you upload a picture of your current office desk and chair? It may be that they are just expensive for nothing.

I think a good chair should provide firm support for your lower back when you sit on it.

Each one of the executive chairs we bought for every programmer in my business has a special adjustable pad in the lower back area as well as an S-shape that mimics the natural shape of your spine.

Man was never made to sit all day long in front of a computer or what ever.

BTW it happened to me too. In fact still happens, Changed chairs a lot to no avail. I could remember one terrible sunday, i have sat on a seat in front of my system 3 days, only having 3-4hrs sleep each day trying to get the project done. On the fourth day (sunday) i woke up but could not move the pain on my spine was better imagined. I litteraly crawled and found the moral strength to crawl into my car and it was a miracle i was able to drive to where i could get medication.

MAN WAS NOT MADE TO SIT FOR HOURS IN FRONT OF A PC!!!!! BE WARNED!!!

Why should you sit for hours at end because of your job? Abi na software to detect the identity of terrorists you dey work on? *just kidding*
Whatever you do, try to take breaks by walking around after about an hour. This is important so as to exercise both ur hands, legs, waist and even ur eyes.
I know what i'm saying cos sometimes when i sit down working on web projects, i experience the same but taking breaks and pauses eliminates those joint cramps.

Change your sitting posture... I used to spend long ungodly hours at the work station either with my computer or sheets of wireline logs... I stopped encountering back pain when I changed my sitting posture...
