What Makes Jonathan A Qualified President? by muchbeauty(f): 5:10pm On Jul 29, 2013
I was part of the people who very much wanted Jonathan as president. Well as time goes on i realize that, the only reason i have been happy with him so far as president is because he's a southerner. I'm not complaining about roads, light,or schools. This time, i am complaining about the fact that even though Nigeria as a country had issues then, we still had a whole lot of RESPECT to some level. Now whether some folks would agree or not, the respect isn"t there. Nigerians Have failed to realize that for a big nation like Nigeria we need an educated and courageous mind that would protect us. Please its not too late for change in Nigeria, everything could get better. I would like to know your opinion on Jonathan and reasons why you agree or disagree with things he has done as president. Please everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion so no insults.

Sincerely speaking Jonathan can NOT make a good Principal in any Secondary Sch. dt has development on its agenda. This‘s a man who publicly told the world dt Nigeria‘s problem is NOT corruption... Gosh; ds is a man whose indomitable wife stole 5 million USD according to Nuhu Ribadu‘s EFFCC; this is a man who pardons Alams after all d embarassment; ds is a man who still shield Maina a 192 bn thief; ds is a man who said conviction of Bode George was in error (can u imagine?); ds is a man who unilaterally remove fuel subsidy & failed to prosecute subsidy thieves, ds is a man who... Gosh...
U don‘t need to watch his CNN interview to know dt d man is anything but presidential.

I'm one of the greatest critic of GEJ, but today I was driving down to Ifo, Ogun state to my farm and noticed that FERMA had fixed the dilapidated road. Whenever I'm close to Ado-Otta local govt road along the Abeokuta express way, I ususally feel sad and curse the fact I'm a Nigerian. But today, I prayed for Gej, something I've never done. I heard myself saying: May God bless Jonathan.
Gej needs to only shun tribal politics and focus on developing the country, and sorround himself, not with his tribesmen or praise singers, but with technocrats and visionaries. Deep down, I believe even a man like Gej can lead Nigeria to the promise land, but he needs to start working real hard. Been the leader of a nation of 150million doesn't come easy. I wonder why the president think the reason he was elected was the be praised and hailed. True leaders provide results, and not excuses. I sincerely wish Gej the best, and hope he concentrates more on giving the people of the Sw, se, ss, and the entire north the dividends of democracy

He has a BSc in Fisheries (where he studied how to own and manage Fish pond)
President Jonathan also have PhD in Zoology (where he trained on how to be a Zoo-keeper).

OP: Are those skills not properly deployed?

It was the Ogun State government who just constructed the road; not Jonathan. Stop saying what you don't know.

@ OP, Nigeria Married a wife and they are angry she has not taken in.

My point is We elected this man Let us support him to the very last. Then in 2015, we can say Ok, go or stay.

May 29 2011 he was sworn in. Before then, we had riot in the north NYSC members were killed.

Less that 40 days The media hit him hard for not constituting the executive council. He did it halfway while still shopping for good hand like Ngozi Okonjor. Few weeks letter some persons brought the issue of 2015. The media was full of stories of The president speaking in Kenya that H'll stay for just one term. He came back, and proposed a single term of six years in order to reduce the tension in the polity. that was misunderstood. Next Boko haram became more sophisticated, bombing UN building, Police HQ, Killing people every day, Then, the government started receiving hard knocks from the north and south. Opposition leveraged on this and story goes on.

My point is this president was not and is nor being giving enough support to succeed. In fact, some people want this administration to fail so that they can advance their course. He may not be the best person for president but shouldn't we support him? If he fails it is not just him that has failed It is Nigeria that has failed. Even If you bring another person to take over, with this hostile political environment we have created and without support, the person will still fail.

@ daulity, we have no choice but to support him till the end, but are nigerians willing to make changes on the way we vote or elect people.
