APGA Demands N20 Billion And An Apology From Fashola by BigBenoski(m): 11:36am On Aug 04, 2013
By Iheanacho Nwosu,
Abuja The All Progressive Gand
Alliance (APGA) yesterday
announced the suspension
of Imo state Governor ,
Rochas Okoroacha
accusing him of engaging in gross anti-party activities. Rising from an emergency
National Executive
Committee(NEC) meeting
yesterday in Abuja, the
party also announced the
dissolution of the imo state executive of APGA. It said
that a 21-man Committee
will be appointed to
oversee the party until a
congress is held. A communique read by the
National Vice Chairman of
APGA ( South-West) , Alhaji
Tayo Sowunmi said “the
NEC unanimously resolved
to suspend with immediate effect the governor of Imo
state, Owelle Rochas
Okoroacha from the party,
for gross anti -party
activities, bordering on his
involvement with the newly regsitered All
Progressives Congress
(APC) contrary to the clear
provisions of the APGA
constitution. “The NEC also unanimously
resolved to dissolve the
Imo state executive
committee of APGA with
the immediate effect. A 21-
man caretaker committee shall be appointed to run
the affairs of the party in
Imo pending the condiuct
of state congress”. On the November
governorship election of
Anambra state, APGA
leadership approved the
party’s electoral guidelines
for the governorship primaries. Giving insight into the
meeting, Sowunmi
explained that the party
leaders discussed
preparations for the
Anambra gubernatorial election and approved
guidelines for the exercise. He disclosed that so far, 14
aspirants expressed
interest to contest the
governorship on the
party’s ticket three hours
after the party invited aspirants. He said the party
has received from the
aspirants N10 million for
men and N5m for women
for the expression of
interest form. He said “We opened the
sale of the expression of
interest forms from the
29th of July till August 2
and by the close of work
on August 2, 14 people had taken the expression of
interest forms. “The people who have
taken the expression of
interest forms will be
expected to pick
nomination forms and will
be screened and face the primaries. Male aspirants
will pay N10 million and to
encourage women to
actively participate the
women will pay N 5
million.” Sowunmi said the NEC again
restated that APGA is not
part of APC as some of
their governors have
mischeviously made it a
point of duty to include the APGA logo in their
advertorials. He said “We had demanded
an apology from Fashola
and the payment of N20
billion, and Alhaji Tanko
Almakura repeated the
same thing in a national daily and we will be
demanding the sum if N5
billion from him. “ We call on all the parties
that are involved in the
Anambra State
government to stick to the
code of conduct signed
with the Independent National Electoral
Commission sunnewsonline.com/new/cover/apga-suspends-gov-okorocha/
