In the history of car making, there have been many categories of cars based on people’s chosen configurations.

It could be about size for some people while some go for design. This post goes for cost.

We want to bring you the most expensive car in the world.

The most expensive car in the world is the Maybach Exelero which goes for the cost of $8 million (about 1.26 billion naira).

The Maybach Exelero can accelerate from 0 to 60mph (97 km/h) in 4.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 218mph (351 km/h).

The car is 623cm long, 212cm wide and 137.6cm high. The car weighs 2.6 tons. The 2005 model was modeled after the 1930s model.

As at 2005, a single unit of the Maybach Exelero was in existence. It was built by the German automobile company for fulda tyres to showcase the ultra-high performance of its exelero tyre range.

Jay Z featured the Maybach exelero in his music video 'Lost one'. Although it was rumoured that musician Birdman got the Maybach in 2011, it was later confirmed that he couldn't pay for it.

See some pictures of this exotic car below;

In case u don't know, some automatics are faster than manuals. Technology has improved and those computers now know the perfect time to shift. If u have seen a car with DSG gearbox u will know what I'm talking about. Even manufacturers of supercars like ferrari and Lamborghini are ditching manual gear box for autos. Do ur research.

Are you into car racing or drifting?

This is not all about research, but experience.

@ OP I am sorry but your info is not correct. Only one unit of the Maybach Exelero exists and that single unit is owned by Arnaud Massartic.

Whether u are racing or drifting, automatics have caught up and more performance cars do come with auto tranny these days. The main disadvantage autos had in the past was gas mileage and now that has been solved. Most of performance car makers are already ditching manual for auto. Let's take for example cars used in the movie fast and furious 6.

Ramp car: powered by 6.2 liter ls3 engine with 3 speed automatic transmission

1969 dodge charger Daytona: powered by 6.2 liter ls3 v8 engine, 3 speed automatic transmission

1970 ford escort: 5 speed automatic transmission

1971 Jensen interceptor: powered by GM LS3 6.3 liter v8 engine, automatic transmission

2010 BMW M5: powered by 5.0 liter v10 engine with 7 speed automatic transmission.

These are just a few of the high performance cars used in that movie and they all carry auto tranny. So guy it doesn't matter anymore if u wanna race or drift, autos do it so well or even better these days because u got convinience plus performance. So its a win win for auto.

U can't say this car is the most expensive car in the world because its a custom made car and only one was produced. U can't go to the dealership and buy it.

costliest doesn't necessarily mean fastest..

yes, you can't go to the dealership to buy it, but it's still the most expensive. Most of those very expensive cars, you order for them, you don't just go to the market & buy one. That doesn't mean they won't be rated among expensive cars..

modern day autos are now faster than their manual counterparts, The current F10 bmw M5 is a good example, it has two variants; one equipped with a 7spd DCT (dual clutch transmission) and another with a 6spd manual, both are paired to the same twin-turbo 4.4L V8, the DCT literally blows the manual away on a straight line.
stats: 7spd Dct ; 0-60mph = 3.8secs, 6spd manual ;4. 2secs.
i personally dont see the point of sticking a manual gearbox in anything that has more than 500bhp, thats what i call an 'overkill'.

one fact is that car technology is moving towards automatic transmission so it 'll be refined over time to suit consumers' needs..
