President Goodluck Jonathan has called for an emergency meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) today, the agenda of which was not disclosed.

Although there were fears that a cabinet reshuffle may be in the offing, a senior presidency official explained that it was not really unusual for the President to call for an emergency FEC meeting if there was a pressing national need for such.

“There is no need for the ministers to be jittery or the meeting to be hyped as it is not unusual for the President or any organisation to hold emergency meetings to iron out issues”, said the official.
