Car Tyres: Advice Needed by misterrex: 4:19am On Aug 15, 2013
Hi guys,

I got a honda accord (baby boy) recently and want to change the tyres. It came with the 195/65 specs (rim 15) but my mechanic is advising I go for 205/65 specs which he claims would give the car more balance on the road and keep it more steady while driving since it bigger (fatter) as I'm having some little issues in that regard. Can anyone who also uses this same tyres on his babyboy or any other ride confirm this claim. I plan changing the tyres this weekend. Your opinions and suggestions would be appreciated.
Many thanks...

It's ok. You could go to http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Tire-Size-Calculator to also check it out yourself. 205/65R15 will give a better performance.

Really? Bad advice! Taller tyres will increase the centre of gravity, and make the car unstable. If the OP is having issues with stability, whilst running the stock tyre size, then his "mechanic" needs to look further.

205/65X15 are too big. Besides making the car sluggish, unstable, gas mileage will suffer.

What does the manual recommend? If you haven't the manual, look for it online. Nobody knows more about stability than the manufacturer.
